The Yardbirds' "For Your Love" enters the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 84. Soon after, Eric Clapton leaves the band and is replaced by Jimmy Page. The song stays on the charts for twelve weeks, peaking at Number Six.

Human League hits #12 in the UK with "The Sound of the Crowd".

Without getting into the politics of the day, it was a sad day on both sides of the issue that day. Kent State is here in Ohio and this happened on my ninth birthday. Never understood it at the time.
