Well well... about baseball

Wow, what a surprise. In the middle of the night our Dutch team won the baseball wold cup by defeating 25 x champion Cuba!
Just like most Dutch people I am as well very suprised as very proud. Baseball is not a sport of high importance here, not many Dutch people play baseball and we don't watch it on tv (we are a football -soccer- loving nation.) Just last thursday the media started realizing this baseball team was about to write history. First European county in 77 years to be champion in the baseball competition. Too bad it was raining in Havanna last night, I zapped to sports at 0.00 but they were waiting for the rain to stop and the game wouldn't start before 02.30 so I went to bed. Did Anyone of you Americans or other nationalities see the finals?

Congratulations! I didn't see the finals, and there's was no mention of the Baseball World Cup in the newspaper, so I was completely unaware. Right now it's "World" Series time in the U.S., so if American are paying attention to baseball, those are the games they are following.

Hi Nak,

Panama City - The Netherlands make history. The dutch beat (2-1) Cuba in the final and become only the second european team to win the IBAF World Cup after the 1938 Great Britain. The Netherlands played a game close to perfection ...
The Dutch news today mentioned that some players of the Dutch team won't arrive in the Netherlands next tuesday because they will fly directly from Havanna to the US for the World Series.

Congrats Dutch Mom! I never knew you guys played pro baseball over there.

I got excited when I saw this thread because my Texas Rangers eliminated the Detroit Tigers last night to advance to our World Series. 2nd year in a row we've gone. Woohoo!!

I love baseball. I wonder who we get to play starting Wednesday.

Again, congrats!
