I cheat as far as Christmas smells go. I keep potpourri on my little double boiler most of the day.

Merry Christmas to you all and lots of Christmassy smells and sights and sounds too.

And if you don't celebrate Christmas, a merry holiday to you. And if you don't have a holiday now, merry last week of the year to you!!!

(ever since I saw this little guy, I've been waiting for the chance to use him)

Merry Christmas!

What are you baking?

I have about 4 dz sugar cookies that need to be decorated but it's no fun to decorate alone.

Normally I create Almond bark (WOOF!)

Chocolate Chip Cookies 3 ways:
  • Toll House Original
  • Mint Chocolate Chip
  • Everything Goes! Chip
The Everything Goes Chocolate Chip
is a favorite, as I put in anything from
mini-M&M's, Mint, Toffee, Almonds,
Coffee, whatever I can put in - it's a
Chocolate Chip cookie OVERLOAD!

Rice Krispies Bars that's different every
year - it's a surprise! (Last year I had
fudge drizzled on top with Red, White,
and Green Sprinkles, and year before that
mini marshmallows - this year; I'm leaving
everyone clueless)

Chocolate Volcanoes - Real Chocolate Cookies
that actually look like mountains that are
egg-white based so they split open and crack
on top when cooled, so you drizzle fudge for
lava and add 10-X powdered Sugar for "snow"
(One problem - my son gobbles them down,
so I have to make them the last minute or
there won't be any left - THEY DO NOT HAVE
A LONG SHELF LIFE SO IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO
MAKE THESE THE DAY BEFORE OR 2 DAYS
BEFORE MAKING THEM AS A GIFT... that is
if they make it that far ... *sigh*)
This is the first thing my folks and everyone
goes for and YES you can add MINT to them
too. I do not have the recipe for it, it's in
my head, my great-grandma taught me,
my ex destroyed the recipe. I just know
how to make them.

White Divinity Fudge
- a major PITA!

Dark, Milk & Chocolate Fudge -
sometimes I will even just for fun .. will
use all three pots, and carefully use my
huge pan (timing is everything), and make
one huge swirl - where you get a TRIO of
all three flavors in one batch! Sometimes
I will top them with Chocolate Sprinkles
or Sugar Sprinkles or drizzle with left over
chocolate fudge if I have any left over.

NOTE: Fudge do not have long shelf life
either.

Lemon Bars - Everyone's Favorite!
Tastes like mini-Lemon Pies. Extremely
rich, and I make these in a very small batch
and they must be kept refrigerated. Cut them
into 1 inch squares and they taste like you ate
the regular pie! Sometimes I cut them into tiny
pie wedges.

Petite Bars - I quit making these mini cakes/bars.
Too time consuming. Only do these when
relatives who have not been down here for
years who are visiting but now everyone's
deceased. I haven't done it in ages.

But either way - While I make a large batch
of this, but it all goes around, so we don't
get that much sweets around here.

The only problem I have is getting my son
away from those Chocolate Volcanoes! They're
like Lay's Potato Chips - you can't stop with just
one!

But I've made others, such as old fashioned
Sugar Cookies using the Antique DoveTailed
Roller, Cookie Press Cookies, and many
other types of Holiday cookies and bars.

Then you must be one of those
women who either

1) Samples and finishes it off herself

or

2) Lets everyone else (which I doubt
it) cleans the pots and spatula and
spoons and all off

PS: NO WORRIES, all the women in my
family except me were #1 - I am not
a fan of sweets so it was either #2
or finding ways of thinning it out and
being creative with it.

Thank you for all the recipes! I make what I call "Grinch cookies." Add green food coloring and mint extract to chocolate chip cookie mix. The guys at my husbands work love them so I always make a batch for them.
