Writing (short stories and poetry) Programs

I like to consider myself a writer though I don't think I am any good. *L* But I hate using Notepad and the like so I was wondering if anyone knows of a good program, preferably free, to use. I've been looking and I have yet to find anything free or that I like.

If this is the wrong place to post for this kind of thing, please forgive me.

Hi,

Take a look at our Creative Writing page on CWE:
http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/...ting-page.html

You can find it using the 'Quick Links' menu, choose 'social groups'

Thank you for the Creative Writing link,

i haven't technically tried any but Notepad, Notepad++, and Editpad. But what I am wanting is a program that has good spellcheck and (crossing fingers) maybe punctuation check *LMAO*. Punctuation and I do NOT get along

They have all kinds of software out there. It's maybe a good idea to keep several versions of the writing so a backup is kept somewhere. Word is pretty good with a spell checker. There are a lot of Internet Service Providers who have spell check built into their email process, but then it all goes on some server.

OO.o

Open Office (.org) is great. You can get almost anything you need there, except pdf programs and a couple of others. It is Suns answer to MS office.
Free is a fair price, don't you think.
