Are you a lefty or a righty?I'm a lefty, and the only lefty in my family in living memory. I used to write backwards because I would mirror exactly what the righties in my family were doing. It took me an awfully long time to learn how to tie my shoes, and I read clocks wrong, because I would read them backwards. I still get confused sometimes. | Lefty here but I do all right with my right too. There are some things I can't do at all with my right. |

| Righty. But in my family of seven there are three lefties, and four righties, so I can relate to the southpaws out there... |

It is a fun thing to think about. When I fold pants, I have them facing a totally different direction than righties. I never thought about it until it was pointed out lol. |

I have tried! I know, I KNOW! Same with using a screwdriver other-handed. |

| Extremely right handed. Difficulty with almost anything left handed. That whole side of my body is a slight issue. It was thought that I had a very mild case of cerebal palsy as an infant. Had to wear some leg braces at night, but so early that I do not remember them. My Mom still thinks this may be the cause of my E, even though the tonic clonic seizures didn't start until I was 20. Other signs from my youth "may" indicate that I had problems previously.

| I was just reading about left handedness and sidedness -- which are not the same thing. Many people may be left-handed, but otherwise (with legs, or eyes, etc) right-sided, which makes my head dizzy to think about. You must be both right-handed and right-sided as a result, Buckeye. They say long-term disability (8 months or more), and being forced to use the other hand or side can make you adopt it permanently. I do very few things in a righty way. Like baseball in school -- I batted right, but I think that was more out of seeing others do it that way, instead of that it felt natural at the time. I also am learning the bass the right-handed way, but that's because I have previous grade-school ukelele experience, which was unavoidably right-handed. |

| I found a small, amusing sidedness test over here. It's interesting -- apparently I'm a little right-eyed and never realized Quote :

| I always thought of myself as predominently right sided, but wow, this test is freaky OK here are the results -- back scratch - right hand, interlocked fingers -left, applauding - left, winking - left eye, hands behind back - right, cupping ear - left, counting on fingers - right, head tilt - left, dominant eye - right, folded arms - left. I'm now going to go to sleep (hopefully) and wonder which side I will predominently sleep on |

| I am ambidextrous...I can write the same in both hands, although my writing styles are different. Left hand is big and loopy and girly, my right hand has smaller, mor artsy writing. I paint with both hands (two brushes at once, on in each hand) and I can catch and throw with both hands, as well as kick with both feet. My right is dominant, as my left eye is colour blind (red/green from being kicked in the with some sharp old man toenails by accident) and my right ear is better. I play guitar left handed, but violin right handed. I can do it opposstie but its slower and more mistakes. Flute was hard as I had to play it right handed and it felt more comfortable in the left. As far as with my epilepsy goes, I don't think my jerks have a preference of which side, but my tonic clonics, my head moves to the right and then i stiffen. (not sure if that means left side tenses?) also with my absences, my head and eyes turn to the right. I usually bite the left side of my tounge or cheeks.

| Based on the test, I have a few lefty tendencies. I know that I shoot pool as a lefty rather than righty. My two sisters have one nearsighted and one farsighted eye, and one of them writes lefty and bats lefty, but throws righty, so they tend to fall in the ambidextrous middle. |

I catch and throw with my left, so I totally sucked at softball and baseball That's odd that your play pool southpaw style Nak. Did you get taught by a lefty or did it just feel correct for you? |

| No one taught me to play pool southpaw. I think it's because my right hand feels more stable, so it seems better to rest the cue tip on it and use the left hand to do the shooting. Either way I'm lousy though! Now bowling is another story -- I'm definitely a righty there, no way could I bowl lefthanded. |

| amidextrous. my parents saw i was left handed as a child, and would only hand me things on my right side, i can use both decently well. but there are something i can only do with one hand or the other. truthfully I still really dont my left from my right when doing stuff and have to think about tools go when working on stuff ( i used to be a mechanic) |

| My son is right-handed, although he does some things left-handed...I think due to the fact that he is autistic and his brother (who teaches him things like playing Wii) is a lefty. I don't think he would do things left-handed if his brother was right-handed. |

| I was reading about how handedness can have an effect on how you think -- that lefties are usually visual simultaneous, and righties are usually linear sequential thinkers. I had no idea handedness could have such an impact on that. This explains why I drive my partner nuts -- I'll ask him five to ten questions in a row expecting him to pluck one out of thin air and answer it (he's a righty). He always says "Which one do you want me to answer?" and I say "Whichever you want," and then he growls at me and tells me "Ask me one at a time!" |
