your thoughts on the super bowl

I'm not a fan of either team. Don't really care about football, but I like the half time shows and the commercials.

This year, the commercials were okay, the half time show sucked *and had too much lights to watch, but the singers were too bad to listen* and the game was the best part.

What did you think?

Christina Aguilera messed up the lyrics to the National Anthem... things went downhill from there. I watched the first half of the game (I actually like football), but skipped the halftime show. Second half I was flipping channels between the game, "Knocked Up" and also a documentary about the guy in the movie "127 Hours"...

I live in Dallas area and it has been a huge disaster! We got hit by worst snow/ice storm in 50 years. Everyone took orders from Jerry Jones and NFL. Our limited supply of sand, etc was used in area for players, celebs and media. Everything but tourist areas, players hotels, NFL venues and stadium were struck by rolling power outages...including nursing homes, hospital, police. Celebrities were no show at last minute for parties, concerts, etc.
Today there was hours delayed in letting fans in as they didn't finish clearing ice off stadium...and billion dollar roof leaked in many areas. 850 fans were relocated and 400 fans with tickets were turned away.
Christina could have listened to that other girl and learned the lyrics! Most of the commericials were for movies, only a couple brought a chuckle. The half time show was worst than ever. Local sportscaster said of all the super bowl he has been to this is the worst ever!
It's Jerry's world and we just live in it here!

Aguilera was supposed to sing, "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming," but instead sang, "What so proudly we watched, at the twilight's last [unintelligible]."

Plus she used way too much of that vibrato-melisma style of singing for my taste.

I saw some of the first half of the game. I didnt watch the half time show. I was going back and fourth between the movie, "Knocked Up" and the game mostly. I agree, Christina really screwed up on the national anthem.

I think she sang, "At the twilight's last singing." She's probably kicking herself a hundred times over. Poor girl. At least we know it was live.

I really like the commercial with ozzie in it. people knocked the commercial, but I just liked seeing ozzie. Has he had some work done? He looks like a new man. And that's in HD. Maybe just giving up the drugs made him look 20 years younger.

Loved the halftime show with the Black Eyed Peas. Wonderful!

Did you ask about the football? What football?! You mean there was a game of some sort???

DFW - you okay down there in Texas? rolling blackouts... do you have heat? Are you warm?

We had the rolling blackouts on Wednesday...coldest day. I had 4 outages from 6 am until noon. They said they would only last 10 minutes, but mine last 45 minutes....which when you have single digit temps...it gets cold fast! Some were not as lucky as the lost all power for a day or more. It get nasty and power company stopped it and got power from Mexico. I felt so bad that people/kids on ventilators had their power turned off even though they had filled information with power companies about medical necessaty. But hey, the players were comfy and cozy and that what counted...NOT

The game was good, but the half time....ewww. I like the black eyed peas normally, but it seems like every year they screw up the sound some how and then it turns to crap. I have to say I didn't notice the screw up in the anthem because I was too busy complaining about how she was singing it to begin with! Why can't some one just sing it the way it is supposed to be sung? is that to much to ask? Some of the commercials were good, but not at all like last year!

Here's a question for you:

1) Who would you MOST like to hear sing the national anthym?

2) Who would you LEAST like to hear sing the national anthym?

For me,
1) Bono
2) Pat Boone

I loved the game, rooting for the Packers all the way!

The Jerry-Dome with 1200 fans losing their seats sucked. Those folks deserve ALL of their travel expenses and tickets refunded. The NFL is giving them 3 times face value, but that doesn't begin to cover the cost of the trip for most, plus missing their teams game.

Christine is normally a pretty good singer. However, she screwed up the National Anthem big time. Not only the words, but not even singing the true melody/notes. The Anthem is not a song where you should sing your own interpretaion of the music.

Missed halftime because I was munching down on all the good food we had.

Also, The Irish defeated Rutgers 79-69!

For the anthem, I think that there should be an american idol type of contest. I know that they did one online and found some people. I don't think that it can be a "star" since they will all put their own spin on it. I would NOT like to have Rosanne Barr sing it like she did at the world series!

The winner of the AOL contest was on FOX this morning. She sang great and she is a grandmother.

Here is my opinion. The game was ok, the commercials weren't as good as most year, and half time was the worst half time I've ever seen. Absolutely the worst.

RRRR, just sing the song the way it was written and quit drawing out a word that gets the song all messed up.

They were actually streaming the words on boards all around the top of the stadium. They said she went to rehearsals and didn't even sing it all the way thru once before she said "oh, I got this" and quit the practice. After singing, when she walked off, she took a fall...there is a lot of talk that since her marriage fell apart, she has a drinking problem.

That's sad.

I thought the game itself was great. A little scary for me in the second half since I was going for the Packers! Glad they knocked the steelers back down to earth. As far as Christina goes or any celebrity that sings the anthem for that matter, they should sing it as written. It is a part of our history and not to be messed with. It's sad they have to make it all about them and their vocal abilities rather then what the anthem truly is about! I did not even watch the halftime show which from I hear I am happy I didn't!!
