Biofeedback Teaching Resource

Quote :
The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) is proud to announce the launch of the perfect beginning textbook—the first of its kind. Biofeedback Mastery: An Experiential Teaching and Self-Training Manual is an experiential laboratory manual for training educators, clinicians and students in the basics of biofeedback. This indispensible resource for learning the fundamentals of biofeedback was authored by Erik Peper, PhD, BCIAC; Hana Tylova; Katherine H. Gibney; Richard Harvey, PhD and Didier Combatalade, DC, and teaches basic skills derived from more than 30 years of biofeedback training and teaching experience. Biofeedback Mastery covers the basics of self-regulation, signal display and monitoring, accurate recording of the physiological signal, artifacting, and so much more. As the study of biofeedback and neurofeedback become more commonplace in the university setting, this text will be an invaluable tool.

In a review of the book, Fred Shaffer, PhD, Professor of Psychology, Truman State University, said “Biofeedback Mastery is a superb laboratory manual for training students and staff in all of the major biofeedback modalities. Each unit teaches instrumental and clinical skill fundamentals through intuitive and well-illustrated exercises. Dr. Shaffer asserts that “This manual is an indispensable resource for educators, students, and clinicians.”

Additionally, AAPB offers Evidence-Based Practice for Biofeedback and Neurofeedback—2008 Edition, by Carolyn Yucha, PhD and Doil Montgomery, PhD. Evidence-based practice is a process that uses the best evidence, preferably research findings, to guide delivery of health services. This document is an update of the original 2004 edition and reviews the efficacy levels of 41 disorders treated with biofeedback and/or neurofeedback. Bio and neurofeedback provide evidence-based solutions for patients and the medical community for disorders traditionally treated with pharmaceuticals or other interventions. Levels of evidence range from case reports to observational studies to randomized clinical trials.

AAPB Executive Director, David Stumph, IOM, CAE notes “This publication is an essential part of every bio and neurofeedback professional’s reference library. There is no other resource available that provides research bibliographies illustrating the efficacy of biofeedback and neurofeedback in treating a significant number of disorders or enhancing performance in such areas as sports, the arts, academia, and basic concentration. See what the experts think.
