Angry Epileptic forced out by Estee Lauder could get £225,000

Originally Posted by Daily Mail :

Business analyst Susy White, 29, said the abuse she suffered from senior managers at an offshoot of the cosmetics firm had "demolished" her self-confidence and left her unable to work.

... The tribunal heard how the abuse started in September 2005 after Mrs White informed Tony Measom, managing director of Aramis and Designer Fragrances and Indra Pamamull, the company's sales director, that she had been diagnosed with epilepsy.

The tribunal found both Mr Measom and Ms Pamamull were guilty of direct discrimination, harassment and disability discrimination.

Such was the extent of the bullying that Mrs White, from Pinner, felt unable to return to her £30,000-a-year post after going off-sick with depression in December 2005.

A source close to Mrs White said: "Susan came back to work after being diagnosed with epilepsy in September 2005. She told the company she had been suffering with epilepsy, but wanted to return to work. She just wanted to go back to her job, as it was before. But the managing director took it upon himself to force her into a lesser job.

"They tried to forced her to accept a job as an administrator. When she refused, she was subjected to a campaign of public humiliation. She was given a lot of public dressing downs. They used a lot of derogatory comments about her."

Shame on Estee Lauder. In their public comment on the matter (see link, not quoted above), they take no responsibility for this. Anything less that the dismissal of Mr Measom and Ms Pamamull is a tacit acceptance of discrimination.

In the fashion industry, it's all about image. This does not surprise me.
