Question Herbal teas....

Anybody have any information to share with herbal teas, and the possible effect on people with epilepsy ?

It's just that at the moment, I'm hooked on Green Tea, as I find it quite refreshing and stimulating.

So, I was wondering if anybody has any info on which herbal teas to avoid, and which ones can be beneficial to people with seizures.

Hi angel,

Yeah, I find I can have a coffee first thing to 'bring me around', but then I'd rather switch to Green Tea - it's just lacking in flavour a little though, and could do with a bit of spicing up.

LightningBolt hmmmmmm

If memory serves me correctly.....& that is debatable, sometimes.......echinacea tea or any tea with that in it is to be avoided. Beyond that, I don't recall any others..

I really like using ginger tea and peppermint tea for nausea....separately, of course.....

Honey chamomile is wonderful for relaxing for bedtime.... and if I'm drinking green tea, I tend to buy the flavored ones.....

The only way I like plain tea is iced........and even then, I still add lemon...

Thanks for the heads-up regarding echinacea....I didn't know that.

What's opinions on stuff containing Ginseng ? I've kinda heard mixed reviews on this regarding Ginseng & Epilepsy, and I was wondering what the REAL experts think ?

Thanks for the linky Bernard.....reading all that, doesn't seem to leave me with much that I CAN drink

Thanks again though - it's always better that I know what NOT to drink, than take the risk and the worst happens.

Meetz1064,

thanks for the info about echinacea.... I bought this flu tea that has echinacea root extract and did notice a fuzzy feeling after drinking it..... its called Good earth tea for Flu

one that doesnt seem to bother myself is gypsy cold care....it has elder flower, yarrow flower, pepperment leaf , hyssop herb, rose hip, cinnamon bark, ginger rhizome, safflower petal ,clove flower bud ,licorice root & dry aqueous extract.

for my movement disorder i tried kava kava drops... passion flower... passion flower valerian tea... which helped a lot.... i wasnt on anyother meds though no anti-epileptic drugs or kidney meds at the time......

as far as green tea I like white tea & green tea mixture .... some times i add lemon lime Or fresh berries just drop them in your ice tea and it actually does add some taste...

love angel
