Thumbs up National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

This Saturday, April 30th is the the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA’s) second National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. If you have bottles of old, unused anti-epileptic drugs (or other meds) sitting in your medicine cabinet, here's your chance to dispose of them safely instead of flushing them into the water supply.

Here's the general announcement:

And here's where you can plug in your zip code to find the hours and locations of the nearest Take-Back collection sites:

This is great, Nak. Thank you.

In a pinch, if you aren't near a collection site, you can take your pills out of the bottle and put them in a plastic bag along with some used kitty litter or coffee grounds. Add some water to dampen it all, then tie it up tight. Double bagging it is a good idea. Then throw it out, and it goes into the landfill. Landfills still go into ground water so it's not the ideal situation, but absent any other solution it'll do.

Thanks for this.

I have so many prescriptions that my family has reacted to that we had to discontinue...

just this week my son had peeling hands/rash from ceftin (antibiotic) for a sinus infection.
