No-Cost & Low-Cost Health Insurance

These days, health insurance costs an arm and a leg (literally), if you can even get it. But before you lose hope, here are some resources that might just make the impossible become possible…

eHealth Insurance – helps you find low-cost insurance plans state by state. http://www.ehealthinsurance.com/low-...alth-insurance

Plan for Your Health — provides resources for helping those who are uninsured to find free or low-cost health insurance programs. http://www.planforyourhealth.com/insure/

Patient Advocate Foundation – solving insurance and healthcare access problems, they assist patients with medical debt crisis… insurance access problems…and job retention for those with chronic, debilitating and life-threatening illnesses. http://www.patientadvocate.org/

HealthWell Foundation — is committed to addressing the needs of individuals with insurance who cannot afford their co-payments, co-insurance, and premiums for important medical treatments. Their mission is to ensure that no patient goes without health care because they can’t afford it. http://www.healthwellfoundation.org/

Medicare Savings Program Financial Eligibility Guidelines by State — gives you the eligibility guidelines for each state. Use the State Selection links to jump directly to a specific state. NOTE: Even if your income (money you take in, for example, Social Security payments that you get or wages that your earn) or assets (resources such as checking accounts, stocks and some property) are higher than the guidelines in your state, you should still apply, because certain kinds of income and assets may not be counted. http://www.medicareinteractive.org/p...t&slide_id=390

HealthCare.gov – If you’re living with a disability, private health insurance may be hard to come by. Even if you can afford to buy it, chances are, it probably doesn’t cover all of your needs. The Affordable Care Act is expanding the availability of health insurance and making it more affordable. Learn about your rights, your options and the resources available in your state. Find insurance options and see which public, private and community programs are best for you. http://finder.healthcare.gov/

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Center Program – provides broader health insurance coverage because the health center assists uninsured patients enroll in Medicaid, CHIP, and other assistance programs. It also helps with less expensive care for Medicare patients, whose Medicare deductible costs are waived for FQHC-provided services. http://bphc.hrsa.gov/about/benefits.htm

Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) — helps states insure low-income children who are ineligible for Medicaid but cannot afford private insurance. http://www.ncsl.org/IssuesResearch/H...0/Default.aspx

To your good health!
