Philips develops "intelligent pill"

Although not confirmed for possible treatment for Epilepsy, it still is relevant. Perhaps this could result in better anti-epileptic drugs for Epilepsy. Which could mean less or no side effects.

Philips develops "intelligent pill"

Quote :
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Dutch group Philips has developed an "intelligent pill" that contains a microprocessor, battery, wireless radio, pump and a drug reservoir to release medication in a specific area in the body.

Philips, one of the world's biggest hospital equipment makers, said Tuesday that the "iPill" capsule, measures acidity with a sensor to determine its location in the gut, and can then release drugs where they are needed.

If this truly works, it is a great step forward in all medication treatments.

Most of my seizures were triggered when I had a flu and could not get the right amount of medication in my system. If this could measure and release that medication on time and in the right amounts this would be a great intervention.

Wow! As far as the cost, it may be expensive, but if I add up medication, that would also be expensive, too. If enough people use this method, it could come down in cost.

So we now have the camera capsules, and soon to be "intelligent pill"...
The Alien doesn't sound so far fetched.

Wow

I am continually amazed at the things that we come up with. Sure, it sounds EXPENSIVE. But, GEEZ. If it can really HELP, then why the heck not? I'm game.........
