Samsung warns 3D TV can cause seizures, stroke

I think most of us were pretty aware that 3D TV could cause seizures, but I'm surprised at the stroke warning. This is the first I've heard that an actual manufacturer is warning consumers about it.

Apparently they warn more people than just those prone to seizures & strokes.

Strange.
Chad wants one but I said we will wait. I mean dvds will be obsolete soon, when Blu-Ray takes over soon. hard to find a single VHS out there any more. so now that these 3D movies coming out, I want to make sure that its goign to be compatable with my movies and other media.

I think I'm going to stay away from it.

I'm old fashioned anyways. I still don't know what to do with all my old vhs movies.

And my Atari 2600 video games.

I still have a cassette deck and a record player. I have a landline. And my TV will play either DVDs or VHS tapes. I cling fiercely to old outmoded technologies...

I still have 8-track tapes and a player, though I rarely trot it out. My first 8-track was stevie wonder's "songs in the key of life."

I want that 3-D! I'm a serious technophile. I think I am slightly photosensitive, so I'll have to try it and see what happens. The first 3-D movies for watching at home are out now. The first 3-D TV channel is supposed to come on line in June. It's some football channel. (Don't get too excited, guys. That's soccer, not american football) Disney, IMAX, and the Discovery channel are also banding together to start a 3D channel. Don't know when it goes live.

Oh, you need a 3D Blueray player to play recorded 3D movies in your new 3D TV. So the cost is even more than just the TV.

I was watching a program over here the other day, and they were mentioning 3D tv as being the next thing of the future (for tv's).....all I done was groaned!

Personally I don't fair very well if I watch something in 3D (seizure wise), and would love to pull the plug on the excitement. I know it sounds a little selfish, but boy is it gonna kill me off if it gets installed everywhere.

Plus, would it mean I have to wear stoopid 3D specs over my glass that I'm already wearing ? They weren't cheap you know

3D Nintendo

Quote :
Amid new motion-sensing game systems from Microsoft and Sony, and Apple stepping into the videogame market with the iPhone and iPad, Nintendo's chief executive managed to steal the show when he unveiled the Nintendo 3DS handheld game console.

No mention (or concern) in this article for anyone who might be photosensitive

I think 3D is a feature you can turn on and off. It isn't mandatory. You can still receive regular-type broadcasts.

Well, i'm a little annoyed, cos i've only recently bought myself a shiny new HD telly lol (my first new telly since i was 13!)

A lot of people i know who don't have epilepsy have said that they wouldn't like to watch everything in 3d because it would give them a headache.

3-d

Since my accident I've not been able to watch video games or movies with fast motion. I can be on the computer if i stick to non graphic reading types like this
with limited colors and movement. I had to adjust to HD TV and even now sometimes just prefer regular channels (hubby yells at me for changing) than the HD . Last year our Sony broke and I had to go back to the old analog Again it took me weeks to get use to it again.

Avitar the movie would have been more like Avitar the nightmare in my world.
So I am not suprised that it can cause issues.
