One of the things that intrigues me is that a medication used to treat inflammatory bowel disease may be a promising medication for some types of epilepsy.

I'm more and more intrigued by this relationships between inflammation and seizures, and also gastrointestinal issues and seizures.

And then this whole glutamate thing. Still trying to figure that out.

Have been reading a bit about this drug Sulfasalizine. It's been around for years and years.

One advantage to this drug is that it is believed to have healing properties for the cirrhosis of the liver, which may be good news for those who have had AED induced liver damage.

Disadvantages are it can contribute to blood disorders (but so can some AED's).

Hopefully, more research will be done on this possible new treatment.
