I didn't really want to start a whole new topic, but could't find my old post:

I have an appointment with a regular doctor tomorrow- first time since before my seizures started. I don't have an official diagnosis but was hoping that he would fill out my disability sheet, that work has asked me to do...

I honestly don't know what to say though. I thought they can't do anything for you. Thats my neurologist's job. But I am not really a fan of my neuro so much..
Is there something I should talk about? Can they do anything?

I don't remember if it was my actual neuro, or someone on this forum who said I should really keep in touch with a regular doctor too, so thats what this starting appt is.... Is he able to give me any answers/diagnosis to this? Possibly start me on AED's? I had 3 seizures at work this week, and I just need help to control them- and my neuro has been NO help! TIA GUYS!!! :e:

I think everyone should have a regular doctor in addition to a specialist. Myself included, so I should probably find a general physician...
I wouldn't expect the general to want to deal with any issues the specialist is dealing with, but may be able to push you in the best direction for you. If the neurologist isn't working well for you, maybe your general will be able to make a suggestion in what to do or maybe suggest a better neurologist.
Write down any questions for the doctor so you don't forget. I know I would.

Best of luck.

You definitely want a regular doc on top of a specialist. I don't know the ins and outs of wherever you are. I'm in Kaiser, a closed system, so you are set up with a primary care physician, obgyn (for us girls), and everything else is referral. When I had my first sz, I was referred to my neuro (I don't really like him). While he handles the specifics of this part of my life, my primary is also fully aware of what's up, and we pull in whoever else we need as needed (read hormones). Yes, write down a laundry list of both issues you've noticed as well as questions. I got approval for a consult so I see her tomorrow (e specialist, yea!!!) and have my full page of notes. I know when I had gone 7 years without sz, my primary took over renewing my meds, until of course I had another one so it went back to neuro.

Good luck with your appointment.

hey guys! thanks for the advice!! my appointment went so well!!! he referred me to another neurologist and e specialist closer to me, which makes me happy. still didn't get my paperwork filled out: but here's some amazing news.... got put on Keppra!!!! :) Yay!! bout time! glad someone is finally listening. anyone else have experience on keppra? starting at 500 mg twice a day... jus started it today and already feeling a little dizzy and completely tired- although I been up since 7am... can't wait to meet up with this new neuro!!
