Anger during Seizures

Bofore 2005 my wife always noticed a slight temper when I was having a seizure. After Aug. 2005 when I had a partial right temporal lobectomy she notice and that my slight tempor turned into anger when I was having seizures. when she tried to help get into a safe place or put pillows under my head . Things like just getting a blanket for me to lay on so I would not hurt myself have turned to anger with me screaming at her to get away and leave me alone. Like I just don't want to be bothered.
I was wandering if this has happened to anyone else? Is this from the surggery I had , or a progression of just having seizures for 40yrs?

Thanks for any input. I want be here at the computer for a couple of days, my wife is in the hospital.I got a neighbor taking back and forth to the hospital.( gotta' deal with that non-drivin' issue)

Again if youv'e had issues with anger and seizures chime in and see if you can tell me how to handle it. Thanks,
Duke

Hi Duke
Have you had to have psych. testing done after your surgery? I would think this would be really important to discuss with your doctor. There was a guy recently that had a seizure and the police thought he was just on drugs. He was restrained and didn't get the help he needed.

Sure hope your wife is okay.

My daughter tells me that at times it makes her angry when people do certain things to help her. But she is usually too far out of it to say anything.

My seizures definitely effect my emotions

quite often I'll have a seizure & emotions will come up. I had a nocturnal (night time) seizure & woke up actually enjoying the euphoria I felt then going back to sleep. Last night I had another nocturnal seizure & felt angry at it because I don't like being woken up.

The seizure might change my mood for better or worse but it is usually different from how I felt before the seizure. I do understand the feeling of wanting to be left alone afterwards though. I occasionally feel angry with people trying to help but usually I get emotional & hurt because I feel like I"m being treated like I'm incompetent or below them. Despite my emotions I try not to react badly until all the post-ictal fog & emotions have dissipated & I'm back to my "normal" self (at least normal for me).
