Any idea?

Lets see were to start well, I'm 15 and no I'm not having seizures but my 23 year old brother that has cerebral palsy had one completely uncalled for and unexpected on sep 25, 11 so last Sunday. well i have tons of questions and so many concerns so this is going to be a big jumbled mess, ready? here we go. so anyone think he may have another, also is it usual for him to be so quiet now and down in the dumps? I'm scared he may have another tonight as he is particularly whiny(making whimpering noises), sad, and seems really tired today, i just don't want to wake up again at night to him having another seizure. My mom isn't helping either her constant worry and calling out his name are making me go crazy. Also i love video games but I'm guessing those are out of the question now huh? if not the yay! i also have a sister 12 years old that also has cerebral palsy. not sure what else to include other than i think nothing is going to go back to normal ever again, and i know it sounds so selfish but i cant help it you know how teenagers say stuff to themselves like only "3 more years, only 3 more years" well that's been going through my mind a lot more, i have no intentions of completely abandoning my family but i just want things to be as they use to be i pray, but i think its unavoidable that he never has another seizure and was the result of some other thing like high blood pressure or something, still waiting for the test results from the hospital

Hi Blazekin289, welcome!

Did your brother have a grand mal seizure (the kind with convulsions)? After this kind of seizure there's a bit of a recovery time -- it can be hard on the body, so usually there's some fatigue and soreness, and some mental fogginess too. If your brother was given anti-seizure medicine, that could be affecting him as well. After my first seizures, I was quite heavily doped up, and it made me feel lousy and tired.

There's no way to know for sure if your brother will have more seizures. About half of kids with Cerebral Palsy have seizures, so it's possible he will have more. His doctor will most likely prescribe anti-seizure meds if he hasn't already. Medication can reduce or eliminate seizures in about 90 percent of children with epilepsy, so your brother may be fine.

I know it must be hard for you and your family to have the seizures to worry about. When you have more information that will help, and everyone, including your mother can get a better sense of what's going on. I know grand mal seizures can look scary. They seem quite violent and dramatic, don't they? But the person having one is unconscious, so there's no memory of the actual event. And it's quite possible that your brother's seizures will be controlled with medication and your family can relax and go back to "normal."

And there's no reason why you can't play your video games.

Best,
Nakamova
