I have posted before, you can search for all of my info in my previous posts. My question is since i have already had a sleep study but nothing was showing up as I definitely have this or that , then what kind of neurologist do I need to see?
I have hallucinations at night, I believe I am seeing people or things, lights, shapes, etc in my room. My husband wakes to see me sitting up in bed or I wake him to tell him someone is there. Lately I wake and feel very frightened, but when I wake I am not sure why I feel a sense of doom or what is scaring me.I am now realizing it is not real and tell myself to go back to sleep.

Last week I also started with phantom smells, once of incense, once of smoke and one of dog feces all within 3 days.

I also suffer from migraines. Flashes of sun light through the trees can bring on a migraine as can smells and sometimes noises.

After my hallucinations at night, i get up the next morning to take my children to school then go back to bed for several hours. I do not have to go to the bathroom after I hallucinate and I do not wake with a headache but have awakened a bit dizzy, although seldom. I generally just feel exhausted and will sometimes feel that due to the exhaustion I will get an migraine. Often times I feel the lack of sleep makes me have a weird feeling the entire next day. I am very out of it and that is why I have to sleep.

Can anyone help me? I was told I have very mild sleep apnea, I stop breathing 5 times an hour. Last week, I actually did sleep walk/talk and was telling my husband about a light on the alarm on the wall. When he started talking to me and told me i was dreaming i remember him telling me that and climbing back into bed. I usually remember my hallucinations and if i do not remember what it was about I usually know the next day that i had one often saying to my husband"I did it again last night, did't I?" He does not pay much attention and tries to go back to sleep because he has to get up at 4am and can not deal with me waking him every night. THe clonazepam has lessened my episodes but I do still have them. I was having them at times nightly and sometime sup to 3 a night.

Any insight is appreciated! I want to see a Neurologist but was not sure if there was a special kind of neurologist I need to look for. If anyone here is from GA and can recommend one in the Atlanta area, that would be great too! Thank you!

The doc currently has me on .5 mg at bedtime of clonazepam, he prescribed it because he says he believes I am just having night episodes of things like sleep talking, walking, etc.

I do sometimes talk but usually just stare. I am not aware of any jerking or any movements except have known I always seem to have my right index finger twitch a time or two at sleep onset.

Ideally you should see an epileptologist -- a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy. If they can't help you, they should be able to refer you to someone who can (like a sleep specialist).

Hi Poshpoodle,

I hope you get the care you are needing.

I do live in the Atlanta area, and I went to an epileptologist at Emory. This was the WORST Dr. of all that I have seen in my 41 years after being diagnosis with E.

My siezures are nothing like what you are going through. I have TLE of the right side. It was at Emory that found the cause of my seizure.

I am seeing a neur around Athens that I really like.
