Anyone ever done this during an absence?

Last night I was sitting at the dinner table with my Uncle, he had cooked a chilli (yummy) I was just about to start eating and I went into what I assume was absence seizure mode, the next thing I know I was sitting there with my mouth poring with blood and my Uncle saying "what on earth did you just do that for, that was a really silly thing to do" and I answered him "what did I do?" obviously I was aware my lip hurt, he said that I sat there and closed my jaw really fiercely hence biting the inside of my bottom lip. (I do not remember doing this)

It swelled up immediately, I had a real fatlip appearing, I went and looked in the mirror and the inside was bleeding like mad and going a dark purple colour. I went back to the table because I wanted to eat my chilli, but this proved a bit difficult, the next thing I know, I must have gone into another seizure I clamped down on my dam lip again, making it twice the swelling and twice as painful. My Uncle just sat there looking at me in disbelief and said "What the hell do you keep doing that for?" I said "Its not like I meant to do it", I mean who on earth would want to sit there and deliberately do this to themselves? I gave up trying to eat my chilli :o(
GRRRRRRRR family.

After about an hour or 2 the swelling started to subside leaving me with a bright purple inside bottom lip. But after these 2 odd seizures I seemed to spend the rest of the evening and night with a really bad headache, sore jaw under my face and I felt really tired. I still have a bad headache and a bright purple/red lip and it is nearly 24 hours later.

Luckily I spent the evening chatting to Robin which helped to keep my mind alert and focused on other things. But I have never hurt myself during an absence seizure before, I do have a tendency to slightly nibble the inside of my lip during seizures, but nothing bad. I was wondering if this sounded more like a complex partial? or if anybody else has physically hurt themselves like this during an absence?

Hi. The seizures you had last night were complex partial ones. Hope your lip is OK.

I have complex partial seizures and the only I've done is pick at my fingers which is something I started in 3rd grade. I never realized I did that till I started taking seizure meds. I would think what you had might have been complex partial but a very very short one and it wasn't very envolved. Do you remember loosing awareness or did anyone else tell you that you were gone or unconcious sort of? Usually absence seizures are quick and you don't have much movement or actions going on.. (I used to have Absence when I was little age 6-13 then changed into complex partial.)
If your awaresness was still there then you might of had a simple partial seizure. Let your doctor know and maybe they can help you figure out what it might have been wheather seizure or something else.

Take care, feel better.

not sure what that could be, but it certainly doesnt seem like an absence seizure...you would recover immediately after an absence...maybe try to google something about it. ask your uncle if there was anything else that you did during your seizure...tell your doctor. he or she would know better than anyone else on here

No I don't remember anything about it, my first recognition was the pain on my lip. My absences can last anything up to 20 seconds-ish.

I had one time during a complex partial when I came out of it, I had blood all over my hand...after cleaning up I found somehow I cut up my hand. I still have no clue what happened.
