Hello, have you also had more seizure activity since you've been off the meds? I know that heightened seizure activity can cause temporary memory loss in my case tho.... hugs Malla

I'm currently on Keppra, and can't speak to what it might be like after you come off of it, but I can say that when I came off Dilantin after many years, it took me a good 6 to 8 months to feel right. During that time, I had dizziness, general fatigue, and didn't feel mentally sharp. Also, I did not have any seizures during this period, either.

So, it may just take a few months to adjust. I am planning on getting of Keppra myself and going back to Dilantin, but I've decided to wait till after the holidays to make the switch for the specific reason of not having the after effects bother me during the holiday season.

I was on carbatrol, and the dr. wanted me off. He put me on keppra. That was the worst drug (for me) that I have ever been on. I forgot so much. I work in a meat dept. and have for 20 years. I could not remember what a pork chop was. Or a cube steak. I was having to ask the butchers on simple cuts of meat. I would have the coffee pot, and have to ask my son what am I suppose to do with this. My husband and I went to buy dinner, and I got mad at him for trying to find what we went there to get. Called him stupid, and went (angrily) flying out of the door. Came home, started crying that I hated my house and just wanted to die. I was having seizures everyday. I only had one about every 6-8 months before that. When I walked, it felt like I was climbing stair to the point I started walking as if I were, and falling into things. Then I started seeing double. I still had no memory of simple things. I just quit taking it. I could not work like that. I went back to taking the carbatrol, but my seizures are still not under control. I have had to take a medical leave of absence from work. I will never go back to this medication, even though I do hear that it does good for some others. Best of luck to you

Me too....glad your seizures have stopped. That is a relief in itself. In the process of the dr. putting me on the keppra, he decided to ween me off of the carbatrol, and when he called in the new rx prescriptions, he had the carbatrol changed to generic. I am hoping this is the problem. I went for blood work yesterday, so we will soon see. Just wish it could all get worked out for eveyone dealing with this condition.

You need a new Neurologist if they won't sit down and take notes then it should be next!!! That's is how I feel since I stopped Nuerontin but I tapperd but it didn't help I still got the falling or floaty feeling and DR ( like your in dream) feeling. It has been a year now and it still comes and goes. I am med free and will never go back.... I'm thinking of trying NFB in the near future. I hope you feel better soon.

LW
