| Doctor also told me to sleep upright with pillows propped up instead of sleeping flat, also helped - but other than that, it has to run its course. Halls also helps too! You might want to phone your Doctor or the Nurse and ask for other advisories. Cold & Cough stinks! |

Have you tried simple things like a steamy room? Or a vaporizer? I know that a lot of times, just simply breathing in that steam settles my cough down---no idea WHY. It just does. |

| Yeah . i agree. I find melting vicks in water and breathing the vapour really helps. Take antibiotics only if you feel feverish ( roxithromycin would work well here). I don't know what the brand name is there. Also if the cough is "wet" ( slimy stuff comes out) , you may want to try an expectorant cough syrup. there's one here called Bro-Zedex . Are you hypertensive and on medication? ACE inhibitors cause a brassy cough. Does it hurt if you press between your eyebrows? if so it could be sinusitis. you may need a non contrast CT scan of your paranasal sinuses. Have you lost your voice? BTW, What antibiotics have you taken thus far? Sleeping with your back at 45degrees to your body can help relieve the trouble sleeping. ( prop yourself up with 2-3 pillows). Have you had a chest X ray? It may be a sign of heart trouble. Any swelling in your legs ?

| I have been doing that since Alex was a baby.Thats tradition in my family. We have a vaporizor. This is his first year with an infection like this. We might be looking at a deviated septem. His dad has that and so does his uncle. Both have myoclonic seizures. His uncle had surgery and does much better. Does not take meds. I would love to have Alex in that place. Not that I want my son to have a deviated septem.

| i know this sounds 'ol school but it works! Take a kettle or pan with water and steam, breathe in adeeply as tolerable thru open mouth. Do this for about 10 to 20 minutes depending on comfort. If possible have a second person available for this part, lower your chest and head below your waiste ( like laying over the bed in looking underneath) This should be done cautiously and with a snse of humor. The other person 'pounds' on your back gantly but firmly going from bottom of babk to top of back. Do this as long as the person doing can last. You will cough more initially but it will be far more productive therefor you will need to cough less often, so sayeth the mom who got to play nurse quite often! |

| go in see the doc. If you end up getting an infection. Not good. Infections are not good if you have epilepsy.
