Can I worry myself into having a seizure???

Hi All,

I am on Epilim and am lowering my dose to a very low dose, due to the fact my husband and I want to start having children. I tend to be a bit of a 'worrier' anyway...and am really nervous and anxious about lowering my medication. I have tonic clonic seizures where I have reached status every time, so its extremely serious. I'm just scared that I might worry myself into having a seizure. How do I stop that? I know I'll have to make a conscious effort to not worry, but its hard sometimes. Is it possible to worry yourself into having a seizure or is it all up to the medication? Sigh..How to stop a 'worrier' from worrying?

You have to remember that stress is one of the major triggers of seizures. I know I've gotten stressed enough over things that I've triggered my own seizures.

I always try to become aware of my breathing when I stress like that & try to breath deeper & also slow it down.

I agree with epileric. Stress is one of the major triggers for seizures. Since Ive gone from two seizure medications, down to 1, Ive noticed any kind of stresses can cause symptoms of seizures to occur for me. Im what my husband calls a worrier too. I try my best to not worry, but being a mom of three little boys, Im use to it. Do you see a neurologist for your condition? I wouldnt want you to get too low on your medication and cause more seizures to occur. Ive had all three healthy pregnancies and my neurologist wouldnt take me off any of my seizure medications. I was on Keppra (3000mgs a day) and Carbatrol ER (1200mgs a day). All my kids turned out fine.

Stress is a HUGE seizure trigger for me. I try as best as I can not to worry about things but sometimes that's easier said than done.
