daughter may also be having seizures

For several years I've noticed our oldest daughter (now 20) having some of the same symptoms as I do. Also, our son frequently exhibits the same behaviors as me. Well, after dx with LTL E. had daughter make appt with my neurologist. EEg results say "slowing of brain waves" They will do a sleep deprived EEG in two weeks. Definitely something going on there. Now, to try to get my son to go to neurologist. Looking like maybe a genetic connection????? Anyone familiar with "slowing of brain waves"? Or genetic E.?

Yes, there

are a few on here that are aware of a genetic connection. One that I can think of right off the bat is Joan. She has a son and daughter that both have E. There is another member, Loudmouth, who hasn't been around for awhile, whom I believe has it, as well as at least one of her children. I KNOW that there are others, but at the moment, they are escaping me.....

Hope that helps a little.......

Oh.........Kelly D and her son both have E.......

Take care,

Meetz

Consider in the big picture, celiac and seizures, celiac and genetic connection, celiac laying undetected for years, then BOOM! Nutritional deficiencies can run in families too. You tend to eat similar meals for years.

Not saying it IS the cause, but please consider it.

Hi there! Meetz is right, both my son and I were diagnosed last year. My neurologist said it was unlikely that my epilepsy would be hereditary but I guess he was wrong! All the scans and tests showed no reason for either of us to be having seizures and thankfully we are now both under control with medication. On the bright side (if there is one!) is that you were able to pick the signs in your children and they have you for support and you will know exactly what they are going through. Before me there was nobody in my family with epilepsy so I felt very alone, as I'm sure a lot of us have. That's why this site has been brilliant for me. Keep us posted on the test results and how things are going.

Soooo, yesterday was big family get together- cookout, swimming in river, good fun. Daughter was just kinda sitting around not participating. Asked what's wrong, she just said she felt "funny" in the head. She did a few strange things that I'm the only one who picked up on it. Tried to explain to hubby that they could have been seizures. Sheessh- talk about denial! He doesn't recognize or acknowledge that either one of us are not playing with a full deck and is not real supportive. I'm just really tired of trying to be heard and understood. I feel for her if this does turn out to be seizures. But, you're right- at least she has me. And her fiancee is real good about learning about her. He has more baby books than she does and has them all memorized! So, thankfully, he will support her very well in any way he can.
