Thanks for the kind words, Ruth. I live in Oklahoma, but I saw that story on the national news. It sticks with me because not long afterwards, I had to make the decision to stop my dad from driving. His MS was taking its toll so he didn't drive much anyway, but his reflexes and co-ordination were so bad that I could just picture him plowing into a building or something worse too. Confronting him about it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

Hi Ruth

I posted the link for information, and particularly the reference of any Australian members, as these are the Australian requirements. However, if you'd like to have a look, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, as it's a .pdf file. When you've opened the link, there's a box towards the top of screen where you can type in the page number you want to go to.

The Medical Standards Contents page might be interesting, as it lists the conditions mentioned in the requirements - page 11. Epilepsy is covered from pages 55 - 60.

Hope this helps,
Chel

I was shook up, but I was fine...I was driving pretty slowly in each cicumstance...(red light, changed to green, backing up the car, parking in the garage, etc.) But after I wrapped my mother's car around the cement pillar in the parking garage, I was DONE! Epilepsy or not!

Phylis,

Did you break any bones? That must have been something, being taught by an ex Police Officer.

Travel bug, I am so sorry about your father. MS is, in my opinion, a whole lot worse than epilepsy. I am so sorry that you had to tell him.

Chel, I have never figured out how to use an adobe abrocat (spelling?). I will try, though.

Ruth,

Adobe Acrobat Reader is a computer program that is probably already loaded into your computer.

If not, you can download it at: Adobe Downloads

Look in the top right corner for the one entitled Adobe Acrobat Reader, and follow the instructions.
