EEG tomorrow! My neurologist is already sure what she will do if the mri and EEG come back clear, which is diagnose E, which ponders the question, why bother doing the EEG then? The mind boggles! Not looking forward to the breathing and the lights flashed in my face and the treck to the other side of the city - but its gotta be done! |

I hear ya. Why bother. But if the results show positive, then it is worth it. And the test isn't that bad. I thought the breathing would be worse than it was. After the breathing they tell you to relax. I fell asleep a little. Wasn't that bad. Screwed up my hairdo for the day though

Hey all! It wasnt that bad, i had a lovely very friendly trainee who was really nice and reassuring! Took ages to get the things on, and the not talking for half an hour... OMG... all that was going through my head was "soon be able to talk" wasnt keen on the breathing bit with asthma but she was amazing about it and told me every minute that passed and was encouraging me to do my best. The light bit wasnt too bad, was okay when it was fast but the slow bit....OMG. I'm glad its only short bursts i thought i was going to fall off the bed! But by faaaaar the worst bit was the 10mins lying still with my eyes closed because i really do talk alot, so i just had a conversation with myself in my head for 10mins. My gp can pull up the results on the 29th but got another 3 months till i meet up again with Dr Vatitianathar (which is my amazing consultant which i get on really well with) who expect it to be clear, but didnt want to diagnose yet because of how frequent they were coming, which has tailed off now im on the maintenance dose of tablets. Next up...mri...which im really not looking forward to!

I cannot believe someone fell asleep in that - did he not sleep the night before? I have got my mum driving and coming with me, and shes been having a right good giggle about it, saying, its the only way i can prove to her that my brain isnt in my little toe - and the light heartedness is good because it almost makes it sound fun! Yes, i am very pleased with my Gp and Dr V, we have very similar senses of humor and we all like a natter (i personally like to think its my charm). But my gp helped me get adopted into the family i have now so she has 23 years history of putting up with me I'm trying not to worry too much about the eeg coming back clear because apparently this is pretty common, but i do stress about everything - haha!

I think it would be tough to nap in an MRI -- the irregular clanging is pretty annoying even with the headphones on. On the other hand, I've fallen asleep at very noisy rock concerts before. Sometimes the ears and brain shut down for protective reasons I think...

After that, once the adrenaline from the initial fear from being in the MRI subsided I couldn't help but be even more tired. Of course the techs would stop me from falling asleep but it was so much easier there than under a spotlight aimed at my face. It was very soon after the MRI that I finally had not 1 but 2 convulsive seizures.

Mind you I am able to sleep through noisy things & when I am relaxing I kind of switch of to the noise around me. Out of the 6 MRIs I've had, I think I fell asleep through 3 of them lol.
