Emergency Cell Phone

Hey everyone, new here. So my mom trains dogs for children and teens with disabilities, including epilepsy. One of the girls just graduated high school and is a completely normal teen, except she will have seizures that aren't as "spectacular" as normal. She will just completely zone out and stare off for several minutes. Problem is, when she comes to, she has no short term memory and becomes disassociated and confused. She wants to be able to go out like an average teenager, shopping, movies, stuff like that. So what I need is something that can be activated by a dog that would alert her mom when she has a seizure. My idea was to use a preprogrammed children's phone and make an enlarged button that a dog could activate to call her mom. I didn't know if there were any specific, pre-made devices that would serve the same purpose. If anyone here knows of anything that could do this, I'd really appreciate the help, and I know the young lady would as well!

I cant' recommend anything specific but have you researched the emergency sites for the elderly & disabled? They might have something that could give you an idea.

There is a system like that available for seniors with heath problems. if they fall or cant reach/find the phone they press the button on the bracelet/necklace and it calls an ambulance or a preprogrammed number or both. The operator tells the person on the other end of the phone that the button was pressed. (sometimes this is an automated repeating message)

That would be a neat idea, except there is a possibility that cell phones might actual trigger seizures in some. I don't believe kids or teens should even be using cell phones, personally, and definitely not as heavily as we see today with some of the dangers that are coming to light.

If it were me, I'd want one with GPS tracking so you can find her if she isn't able to speak at the moment.

Try one of these:
