Ever Seen Yourself?

I was/am curious to know the exact state that I go through when I have a seizure. Oh, I have been told by many people this or that but I am curious as to what people seem to see.

If I could ever tell when one was coming on, I would video myself so I could see what actually happens. It is a very curious situation to me. I have heard so much but would like to really see it.

Anyone else ever thought about this?

I'd love to have one of mine videotaped. I've heard that I actually manage to rotate my feet till they are facing the opposite direction! That takes talent! And some really strong bones.....

Unhappy I've been told I wouldn't want to see myself...

I'm not sure what that means, but it comes from reliable sources.

Mine are so few and far between, they tend to be EXTREMELY violent t/c's. I am screaming in a high pitched 'painful' tone. I've come close to chewing my tongue off before. There's always a lot of blood....you get the picture.

And I have been told something similar to what Speber stated. Considering the amount of blood I lost with my first t/c when I was at home in my bathroom and did not know I had epilepsy, I definitely would NOT want to see ------ ! Plus when shown one of my EEG's, I did not like that either.

What can I say....I'm also a person who watches Discovery Channel, History Channel, etc.... how things work interests me. I've seen other people have grand mals, but never seen myself. My hubby says sometimes I make a loud coughing/grunting sound, my eyes glaze over and I look like I'm staring off into space sometimes, then I stiffen, fall, convulse, twist my arms and legs till they look like they are on backwards, bite my tongue (not always, but sometimes), and then stop and wake up. I think it would be interesting to see what it is that other people see.

Cool The Wada is COOL!

I've seen my EEG's and live on the digital montage
machine but what's so cool is ... the WADA! Where
you get to see your own brain!

However, I've never seen myself on video EEG, they just
won't let me see it. But I have seen myself in:
Atonics
Simple Partials
but that's it - those are the only ones I'm aware of.

I am like skillefer then.

I have had several types of seizures, I am not sure what you call them, few are ever the exact same.

My most common seizure is one of the stare off into space kind of blank thing and then come back and not even know it happened (My wife can recognize that in a heartbeat). Sometimes (my most often type), I have seizures when I am asleep, most often taking a nap, after working in the yard or something. It does not necessarily have to be hard work...it can be just doing work in hot weather (I had one about 18 hours ago after painting some boards for only 30 minutes or so). It was about 85 degrees outside. These rarely have any bodily stress symptoms. I know I have these because when I come out of it, it wakes me up and I flash back to thinking it was about 7 years ago and that I should be at my job and am going to get fired for it. Unfortunately, these almost always happen when there is noone home except me so I am scared for an hour or so. (My mom would freak out if I called her as she is a hypo worrier).

The most common other type of seizure that I have is one similar to the last one but I wake up with sore muscles and teeth. I will assume this is a tonic/clonic. I have had one other type of seizure, years back, that I do remember well. My medicine was ODing and my parents wanted me to come over to their house to take a bath instead of taking a shower at our house. The have a nice big whirlpool type of tub. I remember getting in and immediately starting to go downhill. I could not move my limbs, everything started freaking out and I remember I was shaking uncontrollably and could not open my mouth. I do remember everything though. I remember my parents had to dress me because I was in an extreme locked up position and could not move.

I never can really realize if I do fall and convulse because I am almost always sleeping and laying on a bed.

I want to be able to see these and know what people are talking about, like my wife, when she says that I had this or that seizure. I think it will help to describe things to her when she comes back from work and such.

Question Mixed Feelings

I have witnessed plenty of other people having seizures since I was an EMT for such a long time. I never had a problem with this and handled it well. Of course, very few things bothered me as an EMT, but when I get injured myself I get light headed.

However, the thought of watching myself intrigues me and frightens me at the same time.

I would really like to see just what happens as I have no memory beyond the aura stage. I think that would help with some of the emotional questions of what is wrong with me. Am I really that ill?

But I think it would also scare me. The last several tonic-clonic seizures I had included a lot of anger during the aura stage. That is anger at the seizure, trying to fight it off. It got to the point that I warned my wife to be careful of me lashing out.

Maybe if I am lucky, I will never have the chance of seeing myself again.

Hey Texas! Sounds like heat might be the trigger for your seizures. If that's the case, no more hot tubs for you.

But yeah....it would make it alot easier to describe to others if I knew for certain what the seizures looked like myself. I'm a teacher..and it's hard to prepare kids for what to expect.
