Wondering if any of you have experienced either stabilizing or destabilizing impact of gastric bypass surgery on your seizure disorder? Any experience information would be helpful.

I really don't have an answer to your question, but I saw your lonely post here and thought I'd give it a bump up.

This forum is really getting me down lately. So many of my own questions go unanswered lately that I don't even feel like posting questions anymore. I'd be happy to just get an 'I don't know' than to see 100 people view it and not answer.

Any surgery can potentially be tricky for someone with epilepsy because the physical and physiological stress may be triggering, and the actual procedure may interfere with the metabolism of your anti-seizure meds. With gastric bypass surgery there may be even more risk due to longer-term changes in metabolism, the risk of hypoglycemia (potential seizure trigger), etc. And some cases, there appears to be a link between gastric bypass surgery and new onset seizures.

You might find these links helpful (apologies if they are ones you have already explored).
