Do your eyes move back and and forth (called nystagmus) rather than staying focused, or is it more of a rapid blinking thing, or maybe a twitch of the eyelid? If it's nystagmus then it might be aside effect of one of your meds and possibly a sign that the dose is a bit too high.

Taking Nakamova's suggestion a bit further, did you check with your pharmacist to see if the Rx will cause the eye twitching? They can inform you about any side effect(s) of any Rx you're taking.

Eye twitching can also be part of several types of seizures; however, your post does not define itself more clearly. I suffer from what Nak has posted - both types, have had them all in my life, and they drive me batty at times - while I don't get them all the time; it does happen with or without medication(s). There are other things that can cause this problem as well, such as alcoholics, drug addicts, or those who drinks alcohol and taking illegal or prescription drugs for "fun". Sometimes it could be a sign of allergic reaction to something or overdose. Or there could be other medical conditions that could trigger this as well. We are not Medical Doctors here, although we do have a couple on the board but even they are unable to provide any advisories other than for you to go and see a Physician and be checked out thoroughly. If you are taking Anti-Epileptic Drug(s), you should request if one has not been performed in a long time for a lab-work up, for our body (chemistry and hematology levels including hormones) changes. It may be a time for medication(s) adjustment or for some other reason. If the Neurologist or Epileptologist implies you are fine, you do have the right to have a 2nd opinion. I am a big advocate for 2nd opinions; and speak to your General Practitioner or Primary Physician or Family Physician for a follow up and his/her recommendations if a 2nd opinion should be considered and let your main Doctor review everything and weigh the options. This is about all the advice I could provide for you at this point unless you could bring up more specifics.

Thanks everyone. My eyes seem to go back and forth really quick, maybe only a second or two. My eye lids are still opened at the time. I've mentioned this to my neruo, but he didn't seem to think it was anything serious. I just wanted to know if this happens to anyone else too and what they thought caused it.

It definitely sounds like nystagmus to me, a med side effect.

Mine happens during a seizure now and then, but as my postings have been posted before, I have mitochondrial - so what I have wouldn't apply in your case. Same application goes with my eyes as well - being born this way; your best bet would be seeing the Doctor and going through the test or tests - and let them get to the bottom line! GOOD LUCK! |
