It finally happened

After being threaten to be fired ever since my brain injury, I was let go. I dont know what to do. I lost my insurance, and I dont have much savings. Im afraid I will lose my house, and I dont know how to stop it. I have been looking for a job since the threats started 3 years ago, and nothing. I feel completly lost.

Terribly sorry to hear what has happened to you. I know it sounds silly, but try to stay positive. Things will work out. Perhaps you should contact a lawyer who specializes in dicriminatory cases as it sound like that may be what has taken place here. Above all else, keep your head up, and try to keep smiling.

File with the labor board. Explain to them that you were illegally fired from your job. That you were let go for a medical reason. Mention ADA. Then, go and file for unemployment..and since you are now without insurance, go and sign up for medicare. Use what services are available to you. And if you fight the termination, you're going to need letters from your doctor, as well as copies of your performance reviews. Document EVERYTHING. Every meeting, when it occured, what was said to you....print out copies of the post you put here. It's dated, and adds evidence to your case. And if nothing else works, see if you can get an attorney in your area to take your case. In the meantime, it's time to pound the pavement, and actively and aggressively seek a new job.

I agree that seeing a lawyer is the way to go and ditto to everything that skillefer said.

Good luck.

This shouldnt have happened. Call Legal Aid (if they have one in your city/county/state) and explain the situation. They offer free legal advice and have been known to go to court too. I'm sorry and i'm gonna go ahead and throw in a cliche quote for your benefit...whenever god closes a door, he opens a window. Look out it and maybe you will see new possibilities. Hugs and best to you Lisa!
