is what my son (4yrs old) saw this morning. He said it was orange - looked like a fire. He said it was not big (soft ball size) and was moving all over the room (we just had gotten up and went downstairs, which is where he saw it). He actually ran and chased it ..asked me to pick him up to get it. I thought maybe an aura? then got scared thinking a seizure was coming, but I did not notice any other changes in him. After 5 minutes, the light left.

What do you all think about this?

ETA: he gets foot/calf/arm 'cramps' (what I think he is describing) daily....I am wondering if this comes with absence seizures (he has tonic clonic frontal absence)? Postictal state? Something I would miss maybe?

It sounds a bit like a migraine aura.

This is an excellent topic to bring up with your son's neurologist. It could be a lot of things. Seizure, migraine aura, sleep disorder. Sometimes specialists aren't able to look beyond the obvious epilepsy connection (or non-connection), but some really good neurologists might be able to make a differential diagnosis or at least guide you to other specialists (like a sleep doctor) who can help figure things out.

Funny you brought up a sleep doctor, Endless...My son is having a study done Feb 25th. I will bring of with both neuro, sleep doc.
