Got my Dr's Appointment set

So, with the help of this forum I was finally able to narrow something that has been happening to me for almost 4 years down to seizures. And with this info I finally feel confident being able to go to my Dr and being able to explain what is happening. So, my appointment is on Monday at 10am, though I am sure he will probably send me to a specialist for proper diagnosis. However I am quite happy to being a big step closer to putting this mystery behind.

Thanks to all of you who have provided me such valuable information and answer the past few days and I will be sure to keep you all updated on how things go.

Just got in from the Dr.'s... in the next few weeks I have to go for blood work, and MRI, and EEG, and to see a specialist... and to make it just a little easier... I can't drive, though he didn't take my license. Also am forbidden from climbing ladders, taking baths, drinking alcohol, and a few other things I can't remember.

I do have a question, once you are properly diagnosed, and presecribed medication does that usually give you the green light for driving again? I can't imagine living without a car...

That depends. It depends on what kind of seizures you have, when they occur, and and whether or not the meds get them under control. Just remember to do what the doctor says, and be honest with him. Oh! And don't be surprised if your EEG comes back normal. I've had E for over 30 years, and only had 1 EEG that entire time that showed any seizure activity.

In Canada they give you back your license only if you go a certain amount of time without a seizure though how long depends on what province you're in. I thought they did things the same way in the US.

Yeah I am not expecting the EEG to show anything either... I told the Dr. that they only happen the day after getting 3-4 hours of sleep. As long as I can get 5-6 hours or more I am fine, that is why I only have them every few months.

Anyways my EEG is now schedulled for April 14th, so I guess we will wait and see what happens. Going to do some research on the different meds available in the meantime.. anyone have any suggestions?

He didn't actually take my license, just told me not to drive. I would assume he is going to wait until the results come back before physically taking it away.
