Has anyone taken more than 500 mg of Lamictal while also taking Tegretol???

I currently take 1200 mg of Tegretol XR amd 500 mg of Lamictal. I am wondering what my Dr's next move is going to be though as he said at my last appointment he was losing faith in my meds. And that was before the last seizure a week ago. I am wondering if he was thinking of getting rid of the Tegretol altogether and trying just Lamictal or Lamictal and something other than Tegretol.

Has anyone taken more thn 500 mg of lamictal while also on Tegretol to get a higher serum?

My last reading on Tegretol XR was 8.5 and my lamictal was 4.4. I am wondering if Dr's/patients would hope to have a number higher than 4.4 for Lamictal if the therapeutic range is 2-20.

I take 1600mg of Tegretol XR and 650mg of Lamictal a day, I've been doing this for a good while now. I also take 2000 mg of Depakote and 3425mg of Keppra a day too. My neurologist is thinking about increasing the Keppra another 375mg a day.

Not sure of my readings on them though.

Some what.

At first (around 8 years ago when I was first diagnosed and started having seizures) I was having horrible seizures where I would blank out for at least 5 minutes but usually longer. I was having a good 5 seizures a week, sometimes twice a day. I'd even forget things that would happen the day of the seizure and a few days before too. It took a good while of playing around with the medicine. I was on all sorts of different ones and dosages throughout the years. I also have a VNS implant which we've had to move the "voltage" (that's what I call it at least) up very slowly.

My seizures now are alot better, I'm having many month but they aren't anything like they were before. They aren't lasting nearly as long as they were and until recently I've stopped blacking out during most of them. I'm usually not getting the horrible headaches after that would last for hours either.

My memory is better. Things are staying up there a little better and when they start to fade away it's usually a few months before they start to go.
