has this ever happened to you

back in may when I went for my 5 day eeg my neurologist was upset that I didn't have a seizure and wanted me to stay another 5 days and tried talking me into it, when I didn't want to go for it the doctor seemed to get quite upset with me and pretty much told me off.(and it was the week before mothers day)

has anyone encountered anything like this? if so please share.

Hi Cher, yes it happenned when I was younger. I do not put up with it any more. Welcome to our forum. I go to an epileptologist now in Seattle at Harborview Epilepsy Center. Do you go to anything like that?

Cher, your neurologist is a jerk. even if you disagree with him he should treat you with respect. you are in control of your own health and make your own decisions, not him. he works for you as a highly paid expert who gives advice, and you decide if it is right for you. find a new one!

all i can say is WOW. I really mean that. I don't care for hospitals that much, so i don't think that i would be inclined to stay longer than what was originally agreed upon. With that being said, a neurologist acting (in my own opinion) childish is a sad thing. I would think that maybe a new neurologist is in order perhaps... or a converstation that would include ahhhh, how much his/her behavior was not appreciated.

Then again i tend to let my docs walk all over me... but i am getting better...

Sorry to hear about this...that's pretty mind-blowing that your neurologist actually got angry at you for not having a seizure and then told you off over it!!!

Luckily, I have not encountered anything like this, but I am sorry that you had to deal with this unprofessional attitude.

I personally would have done the same thing...I also would have declined the extra 5 days' stay, and also would have let the neurologist know that I didn't appreciate his/her behavior. If he/she did not get the message from that, then I think I would be looking for a new neurologist at that point.

Sorry if that sounds harsh...but nobody deserves that kind of treatment that you received from the doctor basically having a tantrum...

What were you supposed to do...ask the Seizure Fairy to bring you one or something?!

my neurologist is an epilepsy specialist, and this was my first time in for the 5 day, 3rd time scheduled. I gave her a piece of my mind in the hospital.

the first one was scheduled last year for the week after thanksgiving and then I got a date that was the week of my parents anniversary <my very first one happened around this time in '97> so I wasn't going to do that to them (again).

I was told at my follow up visit that IF I have another seizure they will then schedule me for a 10 day stay..... hopefully I will remember to bring A LOT of movies(lol)
