Headache ClinicThe reason that he said to go to one is because they can pescribe stronger meds for the headaches than my neurologist can. Has anyone ever gone to one of these? What do you do there? |

| I'm confused how a headache clinic could prescribe meds stronger than a neurologist can? My neurologist rattled off a laundry list of med alternatives for me when it comes to my headaches/migraines because she isn't convinced that topomax is the solution with my E meds. She talked about daily preventatives, meds for breakthrus, meds for when the meds for breakthrus didn't work and last resort meds befor its time to head for the ER. The only thing maybe a headache clinic might be able to prescribe that a neurologist can't is a higher class of narcotic??? Maybe it is some regulation that is state dependent? |

| I live in PA, so I don't know if it has something to do with the state itself or not. It was my neurologist's asst that I talked to and she said that the clynic can pescribe a stronger type of med than the neurologist can (I think that's how she put it) for the headache. I just wanted to know if anyone has ever been to one or heard of it? I made the appt but the place is so booked up that I can't get in until the first week of Setember. I guess I just have to deal with them until then. |

| I went to a headache clinic when I was a teen. This was some time ago. My migraines had just begun and we were concerned. Some testing was done, but some of the current tests were not available yet. I was finally prescribed a med and ended up quite a zombie. Be careful that you are not prescribed something addictive. I have since, after 30 years, found that magnesium has relieved ALL of my migraines, for the past 5 years.

| Thanks Robin I only want something for the headaches that I get after I have a sez, and I don't always get one after every sez. I've been averaging about 2 sezs a month and as I said I don't get the migraine after all of them. I know all about pain meds being addictive too. I've had friends that had that problem and I don't want to end up like they did. |
