help me distinguish please!!!

is this keppra rage? or is this a partial seizure? it has gone on way longer than usual and i am now taking b6 100 mg twice a day so the rage should have stopped. but for the passed two hours, all i have wanted to do is break something in half. everything affects me. noise is killing me right now. it doesn't hurt, it is just really irritating for some reason. EVERYTHING IS IRRITATING ME!!! i need to know. can this be a seizure? or is this just side affect? one time i had keppra rage i threw a chair and could barely remember getting that angry but i feel it now. and i don't like it. i feel weird and i don't know what to do. my family is a very loud group which doesn't help. what is this????????

Oh, yeah. That's Kepprage. It can last a whole day, or longer. An emotion seizure is much shorter - like under 5 minutes. And those are almost never anger, usually more like fear or euphoria (although anger has been known to happen).

I used to go play raquetball during a kepprage attack. There was something so satisfying about the THWAK THWAK THWAK of hitting the ball. I'd imagine it was someone's head. Terrible, now that I think about it. I'm such a pacifist. lol...

So let loose, baby. How do you really feel? Let it all out! (better here than at the people at home)

(it would be really glittery)

it just gets so frustrating when people who have never had the side affects or needed the medication are the ones that are around. i don't mean to get bitchy at the people who support me but its like something you don't want in your body in the first place is controlling you and yet, you still put more inside

I have one of those bounceback thingies -- you know, a wooden paddle attached to a superball that you thwack? I find it very satisfying to thwack when I'm peeved.

I have two squeezeballs. Supposed to be to prevent repetitive strain injuries (they don't call it that anymore, but you know what I mean - overuse syndrome?), and when I get tense, I tense up on those. And I don't even take Keppra! Or throw them around my office... Which I don't share, by the way.

Or I put them under my shirt and pretend they are giant boobs - always gets a laugh from the cleaning staff LOL

I like the idea of the paddle with the attached ball, Nak! I have a tennis ball which velcroes to your finger so you can bounce it against a wall and never lose it. Except, I can't find it...

I'm getting silly. Must be time for bed!

Chel

I do not take Keppra but what helps me through those times when my brain is misbehaving, and every little bit of sensory input such as light, noise, and or heat, seems to be just another irritant and I feel I am getting hostile, I will go into my bedroom or bathroom where it is cool and dark and I will put in my ear buds from my MP3 player and sit quietly, breathing in a relaxing manner, until my brain starts to calm down (just a minute or two) then I listen to a playlist of some soothing music at a comfortable volume.

I find that the when sitting or laying quietly with ear plugs/buds, I can feel the pressure of all the stress and tension lifting from my body almost like the force of gravity has relaxed a bit, kind of weird but it makes me smile. Smiling also helps relieve stress, but it can be hard to smile when you are PO'd!
The music after the quiet seems to set a more relaxed "rhythm" to my brain which helps to keep the stress low.

It might help you too.

I can vouch for MP3 players helping. I use mine to drown out sounds/people which annoy me/ set off my triggers for both E and migraine. My playlists include songs for a variety of moods: just switch as appropriate. Also, removing yourself from a situation ("excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom" even if you don't) gives you that mental break to reset your emotions. A different physical environment and the chance to take a deep breath away from whatever/whoever has upset you, maybe splash your face with water to cool you down, straighten yourself up to face the world again, can do wonders.

I think I said before, I'm not on Keppra, but if this feels like something you're not in control of, then you are probably right, and this is medication-induced. At least by knowing this, you will be able to put a lid on it very quickly, rather than having the fear that you're turning into a monster mixing in with everything else you are feeling.

Negative feelings can be like a giant ball of string, growing and growing unchecked. Knowledge is like a pair of scissors that snips them and keeps them short. Heh. I just made that up. LOL.

Keep debriefing - that's the key.

Chel

Punching bag is an excellent anger reliever, tried that many times, especially the one that looks like the human body, even better(can be anyone you want) Have tried the glass sphere, it is pretty in the snow!

Could also be that nasty snow and ICE we're all getting up here. Throw a few snowballs or ice balls against a fence. If we didn't have all that bad weather, I'd suggest taking a long walk outdoors, but that would be incredibly cold. Can you do some shoveling to take out the frustrations for either your family or neighbors? Exercise does wonders for one's coordination and frustration levels.

i actually threw a tantrum at a snowbank last week and it felt alot better. i don't mean to be turning your guys' ideas down but cold weather actually triggered a pretty bad seizure last time i shovelled so i'm kinda wary about doing that for more than five or ten min
