Hi. I apologize for my not participating much lately. I got FLU for Christmas, and am having trouble shaking the last of it. ( Sinus infection and bronchitis) I am getting better everyday though,lol
I have been on the Carbamazepine (Tegretol) and it makes me feel pretty good! Like WEIRDLY good. IDK why, but it's like I am in a really good mood all the time. (when I'm not sick,lol) Anyway, I wonder if anyone else experienced that effect. Other than that, no real side effects. It only costs me $4.00 a month at Walmart for a thirty day supply!!!
I wonder if is helping my bipolar. I seem to be just more normal than before. Also, no more headaches, laying on the couch!
I still have memory problems, but not as bad as before. The phenytoin started that, either that or the bad seizure. I have had a few Auras, but nothing really major. ThankGod,lol

Sounds like you are doing better on the Tegretol. That's great.

There was definitely something going around in our area. Nearly everyone I know (family and friends) got sick at some point over the last two weeks with basically the same symptoms. Somehow, I managed to avoid it.

Lol, yea, I just wish it would help my ADHD!!! But, ..... oh well. Anyway, yea, we all in our are had thris weird Flu! HEadache, sorethroat, sinus pain, cough with congestion,(lingering)just over all "crappy" feeling, and my mom even got the stomach issues with it, which I fought off pretty fast, hers lasted. Oh my goodness! I hope no one else gets it, because it lays you out on the couch, or wherever you land when it hits,LMAO!

Abstract: The study compared the effects of EEG biofeedback and stimulant medication in reducing AD/HD symptoms. Stimulants are the most widely used treatment for AD/HD but have drawbacks. The most serious is that symptom reduction is only temporary unless medication is taken indefinitely. In addition, stimulants may have side effects and long term compliance with taking the medication is poor, especially among adolescents. The study compared treatment programs with 20 sessions of EEG biofeedback (n = 23) or stimulants (n = 23) as their primary components. An EEG group (EEG) was matched with a stimulant group (MED) by age, IQ, gender, and diagnosis. The Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA) was administered pre and post-treatment. Both the EEG and MED groups improved (p < .05) on TOVA measures of inattention, impulsivity, information processing, and variability but did not differ from each other (p > 0.3) on TOVA change scores. The results indicate that the EEG biofeedback program is an effective alternative to stimulants and may be the treatment of choice when medication is ineffective, has side effects, or compliance is a problem. ...
