I have heard the hormone replacement therapy can cause hair loss has anyone experienced this or takes hormone replacement and what are the side affects?

Hormone replacement therapy usually involves estrogen, whereas the hormone that is prescribed for treating catamenial seizures is progesterone. Both hormones are occasionally prescribed to STOP hair loss and restore your body's normal hair pattern; it would be unusual for them to cause it unless given in a very high dose.

I once took Lupron some kinda hormone and it was awful gave me headaches and made me feel old. I took it for Endometreosis. I took it for 6 months. I remember they were shots I got I think every month or so. I don't even think they prescribe Lupron anymore I'm not sure but I doubt that would be the one the Dr is prescribing for you after all I took it 10 years ago and don't recommend it. I took it 10 years ago and I don't recommend Lupron at all It was supposed to relieve my endometreosis and gave me wrost side effects than any of the epileptic drugs I have taken.

Do you know which drug the Doctor is prescribing for you?: They are all different and of course the dosage matters too.e:

Well talk to your Doc it could be that this Keppra is just not the right drug for you. Just remember PUSH for that Sleep EEG these crazy docs where I used to live kept giving me all kinds of diagnoses from Fibromyaligia to Psychiatric illnesses. They insisted on giving me a daytime and awake regular EEG done during the daytime and of course it didn't show anything. So they never believed a had a seizure disorder.

It wasn't until I left the state to go to a University Medical center associated with a major teaching hospital (OSU) they gave a sleep EEG . It was a crazy test I had to stay up almost 28 hours( no caffeine) go off all medications and my dad had to keep waking me up cause I kept falling asleep. Then they took me in put me on the table, the wires and sticky stuff to my head turned off the lights and told me to go to sleep. Then after it was all over ( just a few hours) they saw the sleep seizures and immediately put me on Tegretol and I remember feeling like a brand new person.

It was just a bummer that it took so long to get properly diagnosed

It may be best that you get properly diagnosed and get another opinion on that hormone replacement . I know there are natural supplements that some women take in place of the hormone that don't have the side effects. Sorry I don't know which one they are.

He needs to work on giving you a correct diagnosis so he can treat you medically. If not it maybe time to start looking around.
