Lightbulb How long for MRI Scan Results?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what is the time scale roughly for MRI Scan Results. My husband had it today and we just have to wait now till we hear from the consultant. I was told by someone that if you don't hear within a week then assume it is clear and normal has anyone else been told that. His "Episodes" are getting more and more intensified as the days goes on and has had at least ten a day for the past 2 months when it first started so clearly need some medication to control these.

Any info on mri scan results timescale would be appreciated.

Many thanks
Penny

Cool I would think the neuro could request a 'stat' read...

...which should get it done immediately. But you would have to get your doctor to request that. I say this ONLY because I had a CT scan recently where the doctor requested a 'stat' read so the results would be returned while I was still at their office. Then again, they ae not the same tests...I do not know if there is some kind of waiting period for clarity's sake?

Worth a try?

Good Luck

There's a Preliminary Reading, and then there's
the Final Report Reading where the Radiologist
and/or Neurologist / Epileptologist / Neurosurgeon
(or any other Specialist) who needs to review it
to make the final report. Sometimes this takes
time; sometimes the report if it's glowing and
very revealing - will be noticed right away; they
all vary - and it doesn't matter if it's a CT-Scan,
MRI Scan, MRA Scan, PET, X-Ray, et cetera.
