It does sound a wee bit like a panic attack. If this happens again I would definitely talk to your primary physician about it. I have had some before but now I take medicine to control it.

Ohhhh, don't

worry about posting too much. No biggie. We're to help and listen. E can be frustrating, that's true.

Have you tried any relaxation techniques?

You're more

than welcome here, whether or not you have E or not. Even if you don't, you can still be an advocate for it.....

I have had numerous panic attacks and here's what mine feels like, No there wasn't a peaceful feeling after or before. Mine feels like an impending doom, then like I can't breath, shaky, and then it's like a shock to my CNS. It feels like you're going to die, heart attack feeling.

Billy.

My neurologist gave me Diazapam for these "spells" we call them. He isn't/wasn't (he moved, don't have a neurologist right now) if they are panic/anxiety attacks or some part of my E. I don't ever feel a calm/anger or anything. I stop, whatever I am doing, feel as if I am flying backwards then I get a deja-vu feeling (sometimes the opposite, being, NOTHING is familiar) then my stomach "drops" and my thinking gets out of whack. These last for 5 seconds to 2-3 minutes. Then I am fine. It SEEMS that when I have multiple long/big "spells" in one day I'll probably have a seizure. That is what happened yesterday.

What you describe almost sounds like a "rage" problem. I've heard of them, not sure what they call them, and this sounds similar to those. I'll see what I can find on that. I'm not convinced this is anxiety/panic episodes, they may very well be panic/anxiety, just don't seem like it to me. And I am no doctor .

let me see if I can descibe yesterdays spell better. First like I said I felt very angry. Then all my thoughts started leaveing my head untill I wasn't thinking of anything at all. Things seemed very quiet almost fog like. My vision was blured and it took a long time to be able to speak. There was no fear at all , no thoughts to have any fear. Then slowly I went back to normal. last night I had three night time spells, where i wake up suddenly and gasp and shake. Again no fear at all. This is like a sudden gerk like sinsation,I have a really hard time discribing it.

That almost (I've only been dealing with E for a couple years now, so, someone else chime in, k?) sounds like a seizure of sort. I'm not really sure that panic/anxiety can do some of those things.

I've looked up alot of info on panic and anxiety but I've never seen anything like what i experience. since my 3 day video EEG didn't show anything the doctor seem to think it is related to panic or a parasomnia. I have had panic attacks lots of times and these are nothing like it as I have continueosly told the doctors.

See, I don't understand the importance (and neither did my neurologist, he never did one one me) of eeg/video EEG tests as my "spells" and seizures are so erratic and spread out. They are helpful and informative, just not conclusive with everyone. My EEG (only one) shows abnormality in the front right of my brain (headaches in that spot for month's now) but I've had spells upwards of 20 or more an hour and gone over a month without a single one. I've only 4/5 tonic clonic's, that's what he calls them. I've got Complex partial with second generalization. Personaly, I say you have something more than panic/anxiety, I suggest a second opinion.

I agree with foreverdark, the lack of EEG data doesn't mean you aren't experiencing seizures or some related disorder. The jerk you feel may be a mycoclonic jerk, and the emotional sensations could be caused by seizures originating in the temporal or frontal lobes. One way to determine if it is epilepsy is try anti-epileptic drug meds and/or alternatives like diet/neurofeedback/relaxation exercises, and see if they make a difference.

Thats the thing nakamova i was taking keppra and klonipin and it did make a difference. My spells when i started keppra were nightly and went to only about 9 times per month. I'll have to see my regular doctor again and ask her if there is anyone else I can see. The neurologist said it only worked because of the placebo effect. When they took me off i had spells again nightly and then for a period of about a month they were gone. Now they are back again.

Definitely sounds like time for a different neurologist! I hope you can find one who's willing to have you try the meds again. Be persistent -- it's worth it.
