Interesting trip

I had to leave town to meet my brother & sister-in-laws daughter (my new baby niece). She is so great but because of the excitement I was prepared for a lot of seizures since I average about 1 a day.

I left behind my green drink, protein powder & supplements that I normally take every morn except for Co-enzyme Q10 & ginseng. I know ginseng can provoke seizures but I also knew I'd need a lot of energy.

By the 3rd day I realized that I hadn't had any seizures. I went the whole week without seizures despite all the excitement & lack of sleep until on my trip home when I had to stay in a hotel in Vancouver for the night- then I had 4 nocturnals while sleeping. I'm not too worried about those because couldn't take my meds until midnight. No big deal normally but because I changed time zones again my body felt like it was 3:00 AM when I took them.

I'm reviewing what I did different on my trip. I got up earlier & had my meds & breakfast right away, I always had cantaloupe with yogurt for breakfast instead of a cheese omelet.

I'm going to keep having cantaloupe and yogurt for breakfast but have it right away with my meds & see what happens.

It occurred to me that my grandfather had Pernicious Anemia so I'm going to get a test for that & while I'm at it I'm going to see if I can get tested for allergies.

I'll keep you all updated.

Has Co-enzyme Q10 helped you? Has it gotten more effective over time? I added it to my vit E and multi vit at the start of July. I had an immediate drop in the frequency of partials, but then Dr. put me on Vimpat 2 weeks later and it got worse again. It's good to hear if something works.

Many years ago when I started it lessened my seizures a bit but after taking it for a while it seemed to stop helping at all. It is supposed to be a good anti-oxidant so I keep taking it.

After this trip I'm debating stopping all my supplements (not my meds though) & maybe slowly going back on them one at a time & seeing if they make a difference & if not then not stop taking them.

woops

I just finished transferring my notes to my seizure schedule & I had 2 seizures. One nocturnal one & a small one that day. They must have been small if I don't remember them (actually I sort of remember the nocturnal one).

Eric... consider your yogurt too. There are so many with many additives in it. Not as healthy as we expect them to be.

I hope you can get a food allergy test. There are more than one, and some more effective than others. As for what will show you the best results. Otherwise it is a poke for nothing.

I do check the ingredients on the yogurt (always plain) & the one I use is skim milk, skim milk powder & active bacterial culture.

As for allergy tests I know absolutely nothing so thanks for telling me that there was more than 1 type of test. If my doc does it herself (rather than send me to a specialist)I'll ask what kind of test she uses.

Wow, Eric

That's a huge improvement over the week's time. I'm glad for you. It's definitely going to give you something to discuss with the doctor........

Well I got back from the doctor & the she showed me where in the blood tests my neurologist ordered it shows that I neither have allergies or pernicious anemia. I never thought that not having an illness could be so disappointing. The only thing I forgot to ask about was the possibility of my seizures being connected to blood sugar. Guess I'll check with my neurologist since I'm going to move up my appointment to talk to him.

Also I've only been back 2 days & I'm back to my schedule of 1 seizure per day.
