Actually, when I tried to report for jury duty, my hubby went with me and asked if there was a place he could sit and wait for me, as I have epilepsy. The lady looked at me surprised and said, "You don't have to serve jury duty. Just get us a letter from your doctor...heck, you can fax it to us, and you'll be excused. " So I'm excused from jury duty. You might want to check with your county court house. I've reported for jury duty before, and never been told that I epilepsy was one of the disqualifiers. So check with your county courthouse, or wherever you have to report to.

Several years ago I received the letter notifying me that I had to report for jury duty. My neurologist wrote to the County Court people who assembles that 'stuff' and asked that my name be removed because of epilepsy. It was.

That was painful for me .... Before I developed epilepsy I'd been on judy duty and I LOVED it.

H Nancy! Don't get me wrong....I would love to sit on a jury. I think it's a part of our civic duty.

I had to do jury duty last year, I sat around most of the week waiting for a case (I read a book and chatted to my new friends) we got an allowance to spend on food etc. After 4 days I was released to go back to work, as the case I was going to sit in was changed to a plea of guilty therefore not needing a jury. (I enjoyed the time off week, I was gutted when I had to return early as I was allocated for 2 weeks off)

I never have served on jury duty. I guess that's because I have epilepsy.

I was called for Jury duty once. I was really excited about it too. I got called in for a murder trial. The defense lawyer quickly got rid of me when he found out that I was in the military and I have the same last name as the girl that was killed. No relation though.

Oh, skillefer -- I didn't think you meant that you didn't want to serve .
I was in Santa Barbara County, CA, when I served and that was ...hmmmm ... 30 years ago. lol lol lol.
Wally - when I served my husband was in the Air Force. He retired 15 years ago and he still misses it dreadfully.

I have been called for Jury duty about 3 times so far. But my Neurologist wrote to them that I had Epilepsy. So I never went. I actually would at least want to do it once to see what it is like.
