Keppra and Audio Hallucinations

I've been on Keppra for about a year and a half and I noticed when I went up to 1500+ milligrams a day I started to listen to someone speak or something on TV and I would translate it differently then what was said. I also can't remember after it happened what it was that I heard and what was actually said. It's like my mind translated something on its own. This only happened on Keppra after it went up to 1500+ mgs. I also noticed I go months without experiencing this but it tends to occur when I get over-tired.

Anyway, I just thought I would toss that out there to see if anyone had audio-hallucinations on Keppra.

Audio hallucinations are likely (simple partial) seizures - not necessarily side effects of Keppra. Sometimes seizure patterns can change when you change your treatment regimen - inlcuding experiencing new types of seizures. I'd recommend documenting the frequency of them and discussing it with your doctor.

I agree with Bernard. This sounds more like a type of seizure. Try to follow up on his suggestions.

I was on Keppra for 5 years and never had that effect. I also have never seen that in any documentation on Keppra. That doesn't mean the same will be true for you. One thing we have learned on this site is that many react differently to identical treatments.

Good Luck.
