bugger , if i have stacked on lots by the end of next month im going off it. topamax was too strong for me but i was loosing weight on it. i really want to find one that doesnt put the weight on fast because it sounds like no matter how healthy you eat or how much exercise you do the weight doesnt budge. i just get too depressed and unhappy over it. and im short too so i just dont have the space lol

That doesn't rule out epilepsy -- catamenial epilepsy is linked to the monthly cycle, and plenty of people only have nocturnal seizures.

Since you take Keppra, I was hoping to get some advice. I take Keppra XR 1000 mg per day and Lyrica 100 mg per day. I get this dizzy, almost as if someone pushes me, all of sudden out of the blue spell? I get a headache afterwards. The spells have increased on the Lyrica which is for headaches and seizures? Does anyone get this? Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

things so far are going good. i would probably look into the monthly cycle type seizures as i dont think night terrors do that imho like mine only happen at night or when i was asleep , i must hyperventilate in my sleep and when i wake up im active for 20 mins with this drugged feeling and then ill slowly feel like im going under , ill pass out for 20 seconds and just look like ive fainted. i dont wet or anything like that and i dont have limbs going everywhere but im classed grand mal. thankfully i dont fall either ill slowly go to sit down and faint but then get up again and start cleaning my mess or whatever last time i dropped some cereal and then while i was out cold i sorta came around and then got the vac cleaner out and started cleaning it up but you could see i was on auto pilot then i had a nap lol. woke up an hour later and was like fuck that but hey atleast i didnt have to clean my mess up! when i was first diagnosed i thought nah its gotta be sugar or blood pressure. so i understand why you may feel ill diagnosed.

what is scaring me the most is that the only recognition that i know i have had a seizure is because my tounges all bruised am aching and i have a severe headache and i will throw up and be very tired they only happen in my sleep roughly about the same time, i havent had 1 since i started takin keppra but the side effects are unreal. av been watchin videos of people havin seizures in there sleep and the way i have them in my sleep theyve been described to me are nothing like they are in the videos. if it was a monthly cycle thing why are they happening in my sleep only? can you see why im confused?

could it be possible that if the stages you fall asleep could be triggering your seizures? perhaps falling into a deep sleep sets you off? or you could be hyperventilating breathing too much or not breathing enough? i dont think dreams play a part in it or cannot be proven yet , so id probably go sleep cycle , anxiety or hyperventilating

if you started keppra and then recently added lyrica to the mix then id be looking at the lyrica for that side effect or unless for you the compatibility of keppra and lyrica is not right. so unless you are adjusting to the new mix then id give it a few days and see if it eases or id go back to the drs and see if the dr can allow you to take a bit less of the lyrica? or put you on something else. as you are only taking 100mg a day are you tapering up to a larger dose if not could it be possible for you to take a bit less and work your way up?

I have been on keppra for a year or so now (2,500 per day) and have had no weight increase or decrease. I really haven't had much in the side effect department. (knock on wood!) Doesn't stop my seizures, but they are spaced farther apart, and I can live with that!
