Lamictal Rash / Allergies (Update)

Well, so much for Lamictal that was doing so
great ... errr - maybe not so great; my own
Neurologist cringed when he saw that I had
the 'ole' Lamictal rash --- all over me!

I've been scratching like the heck!

Wahhhh!

So it's back to Zonegran I go where I was
originally ... and in 2 weeks, I see him
again ---> He has to figure out what else
to put me on since I've been allergic to
so many anti-epileptic drug's ...

Have you tried taking a bath with about a cup (or more) of baking soda? I know it often helps the itch from rashes.

I'm SO SORRY to hear this. This stinks big time. Not just the rash, but the whole dang situation. You seemed to be responding so well.

Thanks everyone, had been on it since November;
but what I thought was of the "congestion" from
the pollination (oak trees here are early pollinators),
turned out to be also a Lamictal allergy, just as
well as the fevers.

But as for the rash -- had Aveeno on it. Felt good,
now if I would stop scratching myself raw! I actually
cut my toenails and fingernails SHORT so I would
stop it!

You were going to be my Lamictal partner. I hope this straightens out for you. I had that slight rash as I titrated up, but that is all gone.

Oh boy, the Neurologist's plans are for me
to be titrated off in 3 days ... and back to
the original Zonegran, Clonazepam, and
Folic Acid as it were before Lamictal came
along in November.

I'm in trouble!

I am going to have to call the Neurologist's
Office tomorrow - for when I went to sleep
earlier (the day was fine, even when I rode
my Trek to the Primary's Office for the lab
work); I woke up - did not feel right.

Like my son said, I appeared confused, in
a daze, wide-eyed. And for me, I felt like
I've been smacked by baseball bats. I ache
all over and I am nearly AFRAID to go to
sleep!

I wonder if anyone has ever been titrated
so suddenly off like this and especially at
home? I understand the urgency because
of the side effects - but my gosh! Give me
a freaking break here!

Finally... Geesh!

As the world turns ...

I am now back to Zonegran where I
originally was ---> back to square one,
along with the original meds.

NOW ... the rashes and the "Royal Itchiness"
is starting to subside, but - someone will
you hand me a back-scratcher please?
Geesh! My gosh! I'm loss for words here!

As the time progresses -- it all is fading
away progressively, but can we at least
"fast forward" this?



Been to Lami-hell and back again.

Another Anti-Epileptic Drug on the Allergy list!

I'm sorry to hear about the rash. I've never had it and I'm taking Lamictal also and am not happy with my seizure control. I'm going to try to see an Epileptologist to see if I can try a new drug and or a dfferent dosage to see if I can gain better control of my seizures.

Lamictal is STILL in my system, still itchy and scratchy
but not as much as I was before (FINALLY!) - I deserve
a "Lamictal Survivor" T-Shirt! I do not know how much
longer this will linger on, but at least ... things are finally
beginning to zero down back to normalcy (I think).



Nonetheless, I see the Neurologist Tuesday, and will find
out what the next plan lies in store.

But I will tell you one thing - Lamictal Allergy is ONE
thing you do NOT want to ever experience.

I was alsoperscibed lamictol and got the rash. It was years ago, but i remember being miserable! I hope its subsided by now.

Jennifer had the rash too. It took months to go away and I swear to this day, she still has some itchiness from it.

Yet my son on it 3 years and does beautiful on it.. go figure : )

Brain, You're got me scared!! I've been on it for some years now and it is the only thing that helped. Now whenever I go out in the garden and get a red itchy rash I'll be telling myself it's not poison ivy after all. On the other hand, you may have something there. I never did like mowing the grass anyway.

Is Lamactil the stuff we call Lamotrigine in England? If it is the same stuff, that was the very first epilepsy med I was given, and I still have scars from where I scratched the skin off - I made the mistake of not reading the instruction leaflet (in my defence, it was the first med...) and i just took an anti- histimine tablet each day for a week until my next doctor's appointment. They took me off it instantly, and had to give me steroid injections the rash was sooooo bad, I felt like I was on fire!!! and then I started having constant seizures through being took off it so quickly. I REALLY feel for you, would never like for anyone to have to go through that. I did find that coating myself in calamine lotion helped towards the end with the residual itchiness. ugh, I know the feeling! I was only on lamictil for a week and half, I had just started taking the next step up in dosage when I got the rash. My neurologist had me just stop because I was covered in the rash and it came on so quickly. it took almost a week for the whole rash to go away. I nearly scratched my ankles raw!
