| Ordinarily magnesium is good for calming the brain (which is why it's prescribed for migraines) and lowering blood pressure (good for the heart). And calcium can help with myoclonic seizures. So it's very odd that those would trigger your symptoms. Have you ruled out a sensitivity to any of the fillers or stabilizers in your supplements? Have you tried alternate forms of supplements -- for instance ionic magnesium is supposed to be better absorbed than others. Have you tried taking the supplements with food? Do you have any kidney or gut issues? Have you had a comprehensive blood analysis to check for any other deficiencies or imbalances? |

| Calcium does the same thing to me. again I try buying several diff. brand name. same result. Do you have a compounding Phar. That is what I was working on, I say was, because neur. has put a hold on it. Until she can get a handle on all the other things going on. |

| I have a hard time finding any kind of mulit-vitamin that doesn't have anything in it to make my seizures worse. Magnesium really seemed to make it worse so it makes sense to me but then again not every body responds the same way. |

| What I don't understand, is that some E. patient can take vit. with no problems. and I am truly glad that they can. I do know each person reacts diff. to diff. medic. and vit. How come when I told each one of my Neur. that when I take these vit. / supplements - THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT. They just give me that look. |

| Well if it hasn't been written up in a scientific paper, and none of their other patients have experienced the same thing, then you can't blame the neurologist for not knowing about it. But I do hope he writes it down and makes a note of it so that he can spread the word and be prepared when the next patient with the same sensitivity comes along. |

| Thanks everyone. I've tried several different magnesiums even the topical with the same outcome. I've used compounded pharmacy a lot over the years & I have the same response to the compounded as with regular. It seems strange that our body needs a nutrient but it won't accept synthetic. I don't seem to have a problem with foods that are high in magnesium. |

So, the compounding wasn't any better. I hate to hear that. I am so hoping that this would be key in helping me in the deficiency I'm having. |
