medicine upsetting me? or possible PTSD ?

Ive been on tegretol since last year, and lamictal longer.. with never any problems.

Lately ive been vomiting though its not everyday so I dont know if its the medicine?

I spoke to my therapist and she thinks it could be anxiety causing this ?

I have to admit as time has gone by this year Ive become increasingly anxious about going to my hospital apps and blood draws to the point Im shaking a week in advance and avoiding it. I am starting to jump at the slightest noise, ive had nightmares pretty much every night since my seizure experiences last year...

For some reason I feel Ive posted a thread on this before....

Medicine ? or anxiety ? anyone know if tegretol can hurt your stomach ? I cant get away with not taking my medicine due to where Im living and the program Im involved with.

Maybe Ill find out in 10 years from now ? lol

Hello, Vapour :-)

I think it may be a combination of both your medicines & anxiety, with anxiety the principle cause for your reaction, especially since you've been taking tegretol & lamictal without any difficulty, until now. While I'm no 'Dear Abby', please don't delay your appointments because the result could be worse than your anxiety, Vapour. Have you always been afraid of going to the doctor, or is this a recent development? Take care! :-)

I did notice that while I was on Tegretol XR 600mg a day, that I started having very strong fear of death, nervousness, crying every morning and overall just not myself. I don't know why it happened but I did take it when I was little 13-14 and it was much much lower but still..
I told my neurologist about this and she took me off of it after I had to really explain and half way argue with her. I just
didn't feel right. My blood levels and everything were right and no physical signs of med toxicity. But psychologically I felt a mess. No one could help me settle down, and if I missed a dose I would have a drop attack/Atonic and that made me even more nervous!
SO- neurologist gave me Keppra XR 3000mg a day only. That worked out well but I still had the longer onces a few times a month. The "little ones"/complex partial seizures that last 45sec go away almost completely. Sometimes my eyes get pulled to the right real hard and it feels like an oncoming seizure but many times it just stops at that stage- so I'm guessing that the meds are helping lol.
Now I take Keppra XR 3000mg and Lamictal XR 400mg a day and so far so good yay. Not totally seizure free and probably will never be- since I was born 3months early and wasn't treated for E until later on.

Anyway- if you are having problems or feel funcky on any med- tell you neurologist and say you just don't feel right and you request to be taken off of it or try something else. It isn't worth your helth mentally or phsycally. I wish I would have told myself that earlier into the treatment!

Take care
Crystal
