Meeting others here in person

I was thinking how wonderful it would be to meet people from here in person. This could become an annual event and we could probably get publicity from local newspapers. This would most likely not happen until next year as it would take a lot of planning and organizing. How many of you are interested in a CWE Meet and Greet? Are you interested in helping to plan this event?

Thumbs up Interesting idea TinasMom!....

I'm game...and am willing to help as I can. However early on I'm not sure what all that means so...

I'm sure there are many who would like to meet...as I'm equally sure there are many who would rather not.

I don't see any reason why the suggestion can't be thrown out there!
Hey, EFA has conferences (albeit 'regional'), right?

Count me in!

Yes, I think this could be cool.

My only hesitation (at first thought) is that the anonymity of the internet allows some to open up more than they could otherwise. However, if done right, even that could be kept somewhat confidential. Plus, it would be a choice to make if you wanted to stay anonymous and not attend. Sorry about the rambling, just trying to explain my thought.

Overall, I think it could be accomplished.

I think it would be fun, but I wonder how many members would be willing/able to travel in order to attend.

HELL YEAH!

I have meet several on-line friends and not one was a axe murderer! (myself included) Logistics is the key. Hmmmm....Texas is in the middle of the country...... Mr. B lives in Texas......it is HIS site.....what da ya think? Texas?

I live in Las Vegas, millions visit here every year and there are often cheapo flights in and out. Getting a meeting room at a major Casino isn't hard.

Oh the possibilities!!!

Cool Ya know?....Vegas ain't a bad idee!....

...just from a 'how to get a cheap deal' perspective like birdy mentioned----Vegas is about the BEST.

You strike up a deal with a hotel up there and reserve some block....(promising to do some wagering in their casinos of course) they'll lay out the red carpet!

These are great ideas and if we have enough interest, we can start a group who will work on organizing and planning. This was just something that came to me. I was thinking that it would be fun to have this every year in a different member location. Vegas would be a cheap place to have one. We do need to consider that some people will be bringing children. Let's see how this progresses. I'm happy to see that there is interest.

I did not think of that when mentioning Vegas but......

I have stayed at Excalibur and found it to be family friendly. It is no where near 'Downtown' or the famous 'Strip'. It may have changed in 8 years, but it was acceptable back then!

Changed??? Changed??? 8 years? D00D! It changes EVERY year.
Excalibur is part of the Strip. The Strip is Las Vegas Blvd from Sahara Ave to Sunset. The Downtown area, formerly known as Fremont Street is called Fremont Street Experiance, it's pretty cool, Use Google maps.

Several locations are kid friendly and we have parks out the ying-yang. Never plan an outdoor event like this during the months of mid May-September's end. Just too hot and unless you are climitized, people will be dropping like flies. Even old timers succomb to the heat occationaly.

It might be fun to meet other people. I'm not good at meeting other people. I don't talk much.

I love the idea. It might be kind of hard to organize, but if I can be of any help I certainly will - I used to work in public relations and event coordination. I don't think it has to be huge and glitzy. I would just enjoy sitting down and having a visit with people. If it works, it might grow......

I was in Vegas 2 years ago for a convention with my husband. The Fremont Experience was fun, but the show on the ceiling was definitely not for children to watch.

I am so excited to see that everyone's interest and input.
