Mom's Video EEG results

After being in the hospital for 4 days and gradually reducing her medicine she had two seizures last night. The doctor came today and explained that he see's them coming from the left side of the frontal lobe and diagnosed it as hypermotor seizures. When I started looking up hypermotor seizures I believe the doctor definitely diagnosed her correctly. Her seizures start abruptly and end shortly. she gets tense and usually makes a noise. 99% of her seizures occur in her sleep which is typical of this type of epilepsy. I'm glad that we finally found out exactly what is going on so she can get better treated. She still is not sure if she would ever consider surgery other than possibly a VNS, but I have a question. Does anyone know any either new or older drugs that show very good results with a diagnosis of hypermotor seizures starting in the frontal lobe? Right now my mom is on Keppra, Tegratol and Lamictal.
Thanks

That's sort of a tricky question in that even though certain meds are more helpful for certain types of seizures, everyone reacts differently to every type of drug, both in how it helps & what side-effects are the strongest.

Sadly the only way to find out what works best (to my knowledge) is by trial & error.

Yeah I understand. Her seizures are pretty well controlled on the medicines now, but every two months (sometimes a little longer or a little less) she will have a couple within a few days of each other. I'm just glad we finally know exactly what is going on.
