Not sure what to do, advice?

My son has frontal lobe epilepsy, it is a new diagnosis so we are still on the train when it comes to what medicine and how much. My question is regarding "jerks", does this happen in frontal lobe epilepsy and if so does it mean he needs more medication? Two out of three nights this past week he has had "jerks" for lack of another word as he is falling asleep. This is new to him and to us. The past two nights that it happened his leg(s) jerked about 15-20 times in about 20 minutes, just his legs, I think it may only be right. He is aware as it wakes him in the beginning and he is terrified, afraid he will have a grand mal seizure. He is also confused, he does not know if he is awake or asleep, and I don't know if that is because of epilepsy or because he is incredibly tired, he is an active 7.5 year old boy. When I called the doctor the first time she increased his Keppra by 200 mls per day, I am afraid to call again for fear she will go up again on meds. Are the jerks okay to have, does it mean he may have a major event if I don't increase the medicine again and finally are the jerks part of epilepsy or something else? THanks for any advice, I am afraid that his well controlled epilepsy is going to slip out of control.
